I was invited to a taping of one of my favorite shows “The Chew” to not only enjoy the taping but also to see the awesome segment Carla Hall (remember when I met her in 2014?!) did on the amazing eats in Rhode Island this time of year. After my trip there earlier this year, it’s one of my new favorites so I was happy to attend!
The Chew Studio
This wasn’t my first in person studio taping rodeo. Remember when I went to see Wendy Williams four years back? If you DO remember you have been reading this blog a LONG time and I appreciate you!
After entering through security a lovely producer woman approached me and asked me if I wanted to join the tasting table. I gathered my composure and calmly nodded yes. She asked if I had food allergies, I shared the big one, she read the menu aloud–ALL CLEAR!
The studio is gorgeous. Full of inviting warm tones, state of the art kitchen equipment and just a really good vibe. I sat next to two amazing women from Cleveland Ohio who were simply over the moon to be not only in NYC but to be a taster in their first live audience show. They were the cutest and their energy was completely contagious.
Rhode Island’s Food Scene
Remember when I went to Block Island, Rhode Island earlier this year and I told you how awesome the food scene is? Fall is an awesome time to visit too! Carla Hall went out to Rhode Island and visited Newport and Providence to try some delicious local eats.
She toured some of the most notable culinary locations in Rhode Island including the Ocean House in Watch Hill and the culinary training programs in the world renowned Johnson & Wales University’s College of Culinary Arts.
Rhode Island is all about farm to table, pond to plate and craft brew specialties. Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the mix of fine dining and the option of being served at local walk up shacks. Carla tried and enjoyed some local dishes and they all looked fantastic! Check out the segment here.
The entire cast was there except Mario Batalli because he was just cooking up a presidential dinner (NBD!). All of the members of the cast came up to us and personally greeted and chatted to us. Carla was the BEST! She danced with audience members, gave out extra samples and was really the life of the party. I’m just so proud of everything she has done with her career since Top Chef because you can see she is truly happy. There is a real light inside of her.The lovely @carlahall enjoys @RITourism and I eat ALL THE THINGS on @thechew! #thechew #yummy
Chef Michael Simon came over to chat with us and I am proud to say I kept my composure because between me and you, I’ve had the oddest crush on that man for years. Now I know he is happily married but he’s just adorable.
Our guests included Fixer Upper couple Chip and Joanna Gaines and Rocky Horror Picture Show star Victoria Justice. Afterwards we got to check out the kitchen behind the scenes and take some more pictures.
