A Healthy U Conference 2014 Recap
I knew going into the A Healthy U Conference that the day would fly by. I thought I wouldn’t remember a thing. I am happy to say I remember every moment and I will never forget the magic that was created on May 10th, 2014.
This all started as a seed inside of Cassandre. She shared that seed with me and I shared it with Kimberly and before you knew it we spend months watering that seeding diligently and with so much focus. We never fought nor bickered, we gave all our energy into giving the best conferences we could. We wanted to reach the masses, not just us bloggers but the folks in the community that needed to hear the stuff we read about on a daily basis. We wanted to show women how to put their health first despite all the busy.
The day started in an absolute frenzy, no one realizes how many little details go into planning an event until you have to plan it. Since we would have 70+ people in the room, we had to make sure they were all taken care of. We were blessed to have a amazing team of volunteers that allowed us to enjoy the amazing fruit of our little seed. We sold out ALL tickets the Tuesday before so we had a PACKED house!

You know the saying “prepare for the worst”? Well I did. I am happy to say the day had no hiccups, it went so incredibly smoothly that even I was impressed.
What I didn’t expect was the amazing energy in the room. We opened registration at 8:30am and more than half of the attendees were in their seats by 9 am (on a Saturday morning!).
The best part though? I got to meet and reconnect with some of my favorite bloggers! When I saw Allie from VitaTrain4Life I was SO excited! I probably gave her a really tight hug out of excitement (sorry Allie!) and I was crazy excited to see Brittany, Carly, Crystal, Patty, Gina and Lia too!
The panel sessions were better than I could have imagined. Since I was the MC, I got to really enjoy and listen to the panelists like an attendee. I was still moving around the venue but I was happy to enjoy the panels. The giveaways were great, we gave away Bowflex Boosts, Healthy Living Books, Black Girls Run Apparel and so much more. As a host it was crazy fun getting everyone excited for giveaways (yes, I used my Oprah voice!).
Finally it was time for Zumba! I had 40 minutes to work these ladies out and I had so much fun. I can only imagine what would happen if I had 50 people in my class EVERY WEEK!
I managed to get some video of the class so here is 40 minutes of Zumba condensed into 5 minutes 🙂
Believe it or not next door we had a Yoga class happening, despite all the crazy of my class. I don’t think it affected them too much right? 🙂
The day ended with a wonderful lunch, swag bag distribution and lots of pictures and hugs. I can honestly say that it was one of my greatest accomplishments to date. I am so proud of what Cassandre, Kimberly and I were able to do with pretty much nothing. From the amazing information shared to the awesome connections made both old and new–this conference was very much needed and we can’t wait to do it again next year!
There is so much I can say about A Healthy U but my favorite blogger girls put it best in their recaps (will continue to add new links!):
