Frequently Asked Questions about Soft Baked Copycat LoftHouse Frosted Sugar Cookies(FAQs)

Q: Can I use margarine instead of butter?
A: It’s recommended to use real unsalted butter for the best flavor and texture. However, if you prefer margarine, make sure it has a high-fat content similar to butter. Q: Can I use all-purpose flour instead of cake flour?
A: Cake flour gives the cookies their signature soft and tender texture. You can make a substitute by replacing 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour with cornstarch for each cup of flour. Q: How do I prevent the cookies from spreading too much?
A: Make sure to chill the cookie dough for at least 2 hours before baking. This will prevent the cookies from spreading too much in the oven. Q: Can I freeze the dough for later use?
A: Yes, you can freeze the dough by wrapping it tightly in plastic wrap and then placing it in an airtight container or a ziplock bag. It can be frozen for up to 3 months.

Tips and Tricks For Making Sugar Cookies

  1. Don’t Overmix: When combining the wet and dry ingredients, mix just until combined to keep the cookies soft and tender.
  2. Use Room Temperature Ingredients: Make sure the butter and eggs are at room temperature. This ensures an even mixture and helps in achieving a smoother texture.
  3. Even Size Cookies: Use a cookie scoop to ensure all cookies are the same size. This helps in even baking.
  4. Decorate While Frosting is Wet: If you’re adding sprinkles, add them immediately after frosting the cookies so they adhere properly.

Store bought frosting in the color of your choice or you can dye with food coloring to get your desired color.
