On Friday night I had the pleasure of going out to dinner with some of my dearest girlfriends. Since we all lead such busy lives, we don’t get to do this often so when my girlfriend Sam suggested that we go to Peaches Brooklyn for an end of the week get together, I was so down!
Back in the day, Brooklyn was really never known for their restaurants, however with new venues like the Barclay center and the whole gentrification of Brooklyn, one would say that Brooklyn is the new Manhattan. Peaches Brooklyn has been around for a really long time, but as usual I am so late to the party. This restaurant is one of many wonderful restaurants that are popping up all over Brooklyn making us a contender on the dining scene. Nobody beats Manhattan for the sheer volume of restaurants but Brooklyn is coming up. You heard it here first.
We arrived around 7:30pm on Friday and we had about a 20 minute wait to get in, once we were seated we had a wonderful, wonderful waiter that greeted us by calling us “Queens”. He did so the entire night. (Can we say nice tip?) He was genuinely one of the sweetest, nicest waiters I have had in a long time, if the waitstaff was a reflection on the restaurant I knew I was about to have a good time. And I did!
We were all starving since we hadn’t eaten since lunch time, the appetizers were all so enticing! My girlfriend ended up getting wings and I had cornbread to start. I don’t eat chicken but she said those were the best wings she has had in a long time–I believe her. 🙂
I also had a drink called the Tiger Woods, which was a mix of lemonade and iced tea. I am so dense so I asked “Why is called Tiger Woods?!” and my brilliant girlfriend replied “Because He’s Mixed”
Oh.
The cornbread was great, not to sweet, not too plain and just the right item to stop the hunger.
As far as entrees are concerned, there were so many good things to choose from but I ended up feeding my inner steak and potatoes girl and I got the ribeye and french fries with a side of mac and cheese. My girl Kia got the same entree (and side!) I did.
My girlfriend got the Turkey Meatloaf with mashed potatoes with collard greens:
If you can’t tell, the food was simply fantastic. We got half way through, stopped because we were full, but we all kept nibbling because it was so fantastic. We all had a decent amount of leftover which I totally tore apart on Saturday 🙂
If you are ever in Brooklyn and you need some really good soul food (ish) fare, come to Peaches Brooklyn. It was a fantastic experience, and I can’t wait to go back and try more!
Do you like soul food? Do you think good service sets the tone for a great meal?

Sounds amazing! Down here the lemonade/sweet tea drink is called an Arnold Palmer. I am wondering if the golf thing is why! Might have to try it when I go home next!

All the food looks so delicious!
I love soul food. There was a place I use to go to on the Bronx that was so good! It's called Sams.
And lol about the Tiger Wood's drink!

That looks so good!! Tease!! Love great service, it makes the food and the atmosphere much more comfortable. I just might make my way to Brooklyn soon. I actually prefer going to restaurants in other boroughs than Manhattan. Your just more assured that your food is being made with love and not timed.

YES exactly! I am on a mission to avoid city restaurants if I can because the whole vibe is so much different and less tourist-ty

LOL! I would have asked why it was called The Tiger Woods, too! The mac n cheese looks delish. I've never had collard greens but I like all other greens that I can think of so I don't know why this would be an exception.

The mac and cheese was easily the best thing there and everything was good!
