FAQs:

  • Can I use other types of cookies?
    • While Oreos are perfect due to their round shape and chocolatey flavor, any similar-sized, round cookie would work.
  • What are candy melts?
    • Candy melts are vanilla-flavored melting chocolates that are ideal for coating and decorating. They come in various colors, but we’re using vanilla for the mummy effect.

Tips and Tricks:

  • When melting the candy, do so in short bursts in the microwave to prevent burning.

No Bake Mummy Oreo Halloween Cookies

I get excited about Halloween every single year. There’s just something so fun and exciting about seeing the kids geared up and ready to trick or treat in their costumes. And since I’m an adult that really doesn’t want to grow up, I find that I can still participate in all the Halloween fun by making up some fun and spooky treats as well. These Oreos that look like mummies are my latest obsession, and I think you’re going to love them, too.

Variations:

  • Dark Mummies: Opt for dark chocolate candy melts for a darker, but still ghostly, mummy.
  • Colorful Mummies: Use colored candy melts (like green or purple) for a fun twist.

Where to Serve:

  • Halloween Parties: An easy treat to serve on the dessert table.
  • Classroom Treats: Pack them individually for a delightful school surprise.
  • Movie Nights: Ideal for Halloween-themed movie marathons.

Storage:

  • Store in a cool, dry place in an airtight container for up to a week.

First off, who doesn’t love Oreos? They’re literally the BEST cookies, ever. Then when you coat them and add on an extra layer of sweetness, you really do take that taste and flavor through the roof. I’ve made these simple Oreo Mummy Cookies every single year and it’s actually kind of like our own little fun Halloween tradition now.

Common Problems and How to Avoid Them:

  • Melts not smooth: If candy melts become too thick, add a bit of vegetable shortening or coconut oil to smooth it out.
  • Broken Cookies: Gently handle the Oreos when dipping to avoid breakage.

Tips for Making this Recipe with Kids:

  • Safety: Ensure all melting duties are handled by adults.
  • Decorating Fun: Let the little ones drizzle the candy melts onto the Oreos to create the mummy’s bandages.
  • Eye Placement: Kids will love placing the candy eyes on the mummies.

Fun Ways to Share These Halloween Mummy Oreos

Even though giving out homemade treats for Halloween is a no-no, you can still share them with your close family and friends. The kids love giving a “pair of mummies” to their buddies and watching their eyes light up over such a fun and simple treat.

Forget buying Halloween cupcakes at the store and win the mom of the year award when you show up with these tasty Oreo treats. You’ll be the top “mommy” with these “mummy” treats!
