Last week I had the honor of being invited to a ceremony that honored one of my favorite actress/diva/hosts Tamera Mowry as Resident Inn’s Mom Of The Year for 2015. You may remember last year when Mia Hamm was honored–I was super excited because I have been a fan of Tamera’s since I was a kid!
The luncheon was held at the new Residence Inn at the World Trade Center. It is right in the heart of downtown Manhattan just a few steps away from the beautiful Fulton Street train hub and across the street from the famous discount store Century21.

Known for her role in Sister! Sister!, many films and most recently as one of the hosts on my favorite daytime talk shows “The Real”, she is not only a TV personality but a mom of a toddler son Aiden and a soon to be mom of a princess due to arrive this summer!
As Tamera arrived she was glowing and just incredibly fabulous. I’m pretty sure I couldn’t look that good non pregnant. She received her award and flowers from Residence Inn and settled in for an interview.
Tamera shared a ton about traveling with toddlers and how much “fun” it is! One thing she liked the most about staying at the Residence Inn was the free wifi, it really helps when the toddler needs to be distracted!
Another perk she loved about staying at the residence inn is the in room kitchenette. I have to admit I am a fan of this too because there may be some nights on your vacation when the kids have hit their max for the day and going out for dinner is an impossible task. Having the kitchen and being able to make your own food is priceless!
Tamera then shared her packing tips and gave us some really great ideas on how to pack and they all involve plastic ziploc bags…who knew?!
She even shared this delicious easy recipes for easy toasted banana bites–no flour needed!
Afterwards we were able to take tours of the fabulous hotel. Some of the great features include:
- Deluxe Kitchen/Kitchenette with dishwasher, convection bake oven, silverware, toaster, coffeemaker, pots, pans, dishes and glasses
- FULL size fridge
- Complimentary wireless high speed internet access
- FREE Hot Breakfast buffet
- Fitness center with state of the art equipment available 24/7
- Complimentary grocery shopping
Did you know about the Ziploc trick? Have you ever stayed at a Residence Inn? What is a MUST for you at a hotel??

I used to LOVE Sister, Sister. It's so hard to believe that she has a 2 year old and is about to have another baby. We always like to stay at hotels with kitchenettes if we can afford it. Though recently we graduated to the adjoining room crowd. (eek!) Thanks for sharing all of her tips, too. Ziplock baggies are a mom's best friend!

I love Tamera (& her sister) and am beyond jealous you got to be there! I'm beyond jealous cause she and I are due a month apart with baby girls and I swear our sons resemble one another! I can't view the video because my browser blocked it :-( but am very curious about the ziploc hack.

I love Tamera. she looks fantastic pregnant. I might have to try the banana bites recipe. Hotels must for me include a comfy bed and wifi and good restaurant/dining options.

Oh man - I used to watch their show religiously. They've grown up beautifully which is nice to see. I did know the Ziploc trick! I swear Cassidy taught it to me.
