This post is made possible by support from Mean Girls on Broadway. All opinions are my own.
There are a few movies that I will watch EVERY SINGLE TIME it’s on cable tv. My husband knows me so well that he can browse the millions of channels in our package then give me a “choice” of which movie to watch (he’s really good like that). One of those movies is Mean Girls.
I still laugh hysterically and I am genuinely entertained every single time I watch. When I was offered the opportunity to go see Mean Girls Broadway live musical I jumped on it SO FAST. It wasn’t even a question. Of COURSE I wanted to see it. I made arrangements, took one of my besties and boom just like that I was having a cool moms night out!
Even though I live in NYC I am ashamed to say that I don’t frequent broadway plays nearly as much as you would think. I often have friends come in from out of town and ask me what they should see—my answer?? Shrug emoji.
With all that’s been the crazy of back to school I was happy for the break. My husband made arrangements to come home early and just like that I made my way to midtown for the show.
On Wednesday’s We Wear Pink: Mean Girls Broadway Review
Because the day included a ton of work, school pick ups and drop offs, a haircut and more—I had exactly 10 minutes to get ready and get out of the house. I picked this pink dress that I had never worn before. I felt sexy in it, so I said why not. I paired it with a leopard belt and shoes and boom! I was so ready to go!
The August Wilson theater was a sea of pink. Signage, and event wall to take photos! I immediately felt at home.
Mean Girls Broadway Merchandise
I wanted all the things!! Especially the burn book. All of the items were so cute!
Mean Girls Cast
For our show we saw Grey Henson play Damian, Olivia Kaufmann play Janis, Erika Henningsen play Cady, Renee Rapp play Regina George, Krystina Alabado play Gretchen and my favorite character Karen was played by Kate Rockwell.
The show was incredible. I wasn’t expecting to laugh so much. I honestly expected it to be watered down musically version of my favorite movie. I was pleasantly blown away by every single scene. The visual effects were incredible too. Let me tell you guys, broadway has come a REALLY long way since my mom was taking me to shows when I was 5 years old!!
The songs were so awesome because they just expanded on the pivotal moments of the film. Even though I knew exactly what was coming next, I was super intrigued to see it translated to the stage. Spoiler Alert: it was fantastic.
Somehow they take the old movie and make it new again! Songs you’ve never heard, a new but familiar set and a super talented cast that will make you forget Lindsay Lohan and the rest of the original movie cast immediately!
Whether you are local or coming to visit, PLEASE make Mean Girls on Broadway a priority!! It’s perfect for girls night but if you want to take your spouse that’s okay too!
Mean Girls Broadway Running Time
The show run time is 2 hours and 30 minutes including one intermission.
