I am always jealous of moms who have amazing relationships with their pediatricians. You might be one of them–you have taken the kids to visit the same pediatrician since they were born. They know you, you know them. You might even visit each other on the holidays. You have this unbreakable relationship and you can trust them completely with the care of your child.
I do NOT have this type of relationship.
It wasn’t always this way. Both boys had an amazing pediatrician that they both had been seeing since they were one week old. This pediatrician promptly retired without warning when my youngest was two. We have been bouncing around pediatrician offices ever since. I currently have 4 health providers that they have seen in the past 3 years because every health provider has weird hours/days and if I want my kids to be seen, I have to hope and pray that they are available.
Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care Center
I discovered Urgent Care a few years ago when Josh had a cough that simply would not go away. He couldn’t talk without coughing violently. We’d been giving him over the counter remedies but it wasn’t working. Unfortunately it was the weekend and it was OUTSIDE of the normal working hours of all four health providers. The thought of spending my Saturday in an ER was overwhelming so I took a chance and went to Urgent Care. Turns out he had the flu. It was quick, easy and super painless.

Full Tour of GoHealth Urgent Care
I took my eldest child with me to check out the facility–and he made for nice company as I got the tour. We met the amazing staff which included Ingrid, Brittany and Krisha. They were so warm and friendly when I arrived–but what was even MORE impressive was the actual facility.
First, before you even get there, you can check and see how many people are before you waiting to be seen. You can register yourself online, then head to the office. When you arrive, whether you walk in or pre checked yourself, you can go to the kiosk and let them know you are here. (Ever been stuck behind a million people checking in at the receptionist desk–I HAVE).
There is free WiFi, charging stations for your devices–yes please!–and a nice comfortable area for you to relax in while you are waiting to be seen. It’s definitely not your normal white light stuffy health provider’s lobby. There is plenty of natural light shining in, beautiful orange chairs and a big TV to let you know exactly where you are in the queue of patients.
The GoHealth Facility
The facility was sparkling new, they had all of the latest equipment, including a television screen inside of the patient’s care room so you can follow along with the information that they physician is entering. Have you ever been in a Dr.’s office and they are asking you a million questions while they type? Now you can actually SEE what is happening which makes it easier to be transparent and fill in any missing information that might be helpful with a diagnosis.
They also have all of the most up to date x-ray machines, and super clean offices.
Northwell Health GoHealth Urgent Care will see me whenever I sneeze because I loved the experience so much. It is so helpful to know that there is a Urgent Care Facility in Brooklyn with super consistent hours and a fantastic staff.
