I love a good cooking class.
If I had the funds and the time I’d be at a different cooking class every night. They are just so much fun! Food, wine, and cheftastic skills that you didn’t have when you got there. It’s a win all the way around!
Last week BOU invited me to join them at one of my favorite places in Brooklyn, The Brooklyn Kitchen. (Remember when I came here for a cooking class with Buick?) We were there to celebrate the launch of BOU’s new Gravy Cube line! It was the worst of nights too, it was COLD and raining sideways. I went back and forth on whether or not I should attend, but I am so happy I did!
What is BOU?
THE BETTER-FOR-YOU BOUILLON CUBE
Our convenient bouillon cubes can be used to enhance the natural flavor of any dish, or can be simply added to hot water for a savory, on-the-go broth. Available in three flavors: Beef, Chicken, and Vegetable, it only makes sense that the quality of a broth matches the quality we look for in fresh ingredients.
I use bouillon cubes in my very famous Easy Crockpot Pepper Steak Recipe, but I am also painfully aware of the salt content so it’s so nice to have an alternative that has 30% less sodium!
We all grabbed a glass of wine, washed our hands throughly and got to work. The first thing we worked on was a French Apple cake. I am no stranger to baking, so this was my favorite part. We all took one task, I chopped the apples, while another person whisked and another blended. It would be so nice if I had these people to help me cook 24/7. It makes things go SO quickly.
Next we worked on the wild rice–I was a little concerned about this wild rice situation as I am a strictly white rice or Jamaican Rice and Peas kind of girl. However, I’ve been converted. It was so simple and delicious–It could be it’s own independent dish.
Then we started on the chicken which was super easy. I was called to do the stirring on the mushroom gravy which highlighted the yummy BOU mushroom gravy cubes. I happily worked on the mushroom gravy and felt right at home in this beautiful dream kitchen. Can I have a kitchen like this for my birthday? Please?
There were also some amazing roasted brussel sprouts that we didn’t make but I happily ate.
The class was amazing, our instructor Melissa was a complete hoot and I kinda want to be best friends with her in real life.
The food was SO good. The company was even better.
The BOU cubes are such a healthier alternative to regular bouillon cubes and it’s available on Amazon, Fairway, Whole Foods and more. Check here to see where you can get it close to you!
