FAQs

Q: Can I use regular chocolate instead of candy melts? A: Absolutely! Candy melts give you that smooth finish and vibrant color, but if you’re a chocolate purist, go for it. Just remember, tempering chocolate is key to getting that glossy look.

Q: How do I prevent the strawberries from getting soggy? A: The secret is in the prep. Make sure your strawberries are completely dry before you start dipping. Water is chocolate’s arch-nemesis, so pat them down gently with a paper towel after washing.

Q: Can I add flavorings to my candy melts? A: Yes, and it’s a game-changer! A drop of vanilla extract or a hint of orange zest can elevate your chocolate-covered strawberries to gourmet status. Just make sure to add any flavorings sparingly to avoid altering the candy melts’ consistency.

Q: How long do these beauties last? A: While best enjoyed fresh, you can store them in the fridge for up to 24 hours. After that, the strawberries start to release moisture, which can make the coating soggy.

Where to Serve

Chocolate-covered strawberries are versatile stars of any celebration. They’re perfect for:

  • A romantic Valentine’s Day dinner
  • Galentine’s parties with your squad
  • A classy touch to your brunch spread
  • Sweetening up your gift baskets

Basically, anywhere you need a dash of love and a touch of sweetness, these strawberries are ready to shine.

Storage

Pop these in the fridge on a wax paper-lined tray. Make sure they’re not touching too much, or you’ll have a chocolate merge situation (tasty, but messy). Keep them uncovered to avoid condensation, which can mess with the chocolate’s texture. Remember, they’re best enjoyed within a day for that peak freshness and crisp chocolate snap.

Tips for Making This Recipe with Kids

  • Dress for Success: Things can get messy, so aprons or old t-shirts are the way to go.
  • Dip and Decorate: Let the kiddos dip the strawberries in the melted candy and go wild with the sprinkles. It’s a fun way to get creative and messy—the best kind of play!
  • Safety First: Make sure an adult handles the melting process. Kids can take over once everything’s safe to touch.
  • Chill Out: The waiting is the hardest part. Pop the dipped strawberries in the fridge for a quick chill session to set the candy faster, so little ones don’t have to wait too long.

Ingredients

  • 1 pack fresh strawberries
  • 1 cup white candy melts
  • 1 cup red candy melts
  • Red, White and Pink Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Rinse and drain your strawberries
  2. Pat them dry on a paper towel ensuring no water left on them, as this will harden the chocolate.
  3. Melt the candy melts for 45 seconds at regular temp in your microwave.
  4. Stir and return to the microwave for 30 seconds.
  5. Stir until smooth, if a few lumps are still present, return to microwave in 15 second increments until it is all melted and smooth.
  6. Once the chocolate is melted set up your workstation with parchment paper, sprinkles and chocolate.
  7. Stick a skewer through the top of the strawberry and dip into the chocolate, run the bottom across the side of the bowl to help drain off excess chocolate.
  8. Place onto parchment paper and let air dry 10-15 mins.
Add sprinkles immediately if you are not going to add a second color or design.
  9. If adding a second color (as pictured) let the strawberries set completely before creating a pattern on the berries.
  10. Cut a small hole in the tip of the piping bag and squeeze melted chocolate as you move your hands in a back and forth motion across the top of the berries, careful not to touch the tip of the bag on the set chocolate.
  11. Add sprinkles or leave as is. Let set fully 15-20 mins before serving.

Notes

The chocolate should not be piping hot, this will burn it. It will be melted and should easily flow from piping bag.
