There are so many things to keep up with when you have a new baby. To be honest, most of it is a blur. Today I’ve got a free printable baby journal and monthly tracker to help you keep track of all the wonderful memories of baby’s first year.
Even though I had done this newborn life two times previously at this point, my daughter’s first year of life simply flew by. Those first 4 or 5 months of sleep deprivation were insanely hard but it all still happened so fast! Before you knew it we were celebrating her first birthday!
One way to keep track of everything that is happening during the newborn phase is to have a baby journal near by. It helps to keep track of the wet and dirty diapers especially when you are trying to survive the early months. I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve lost track of the dirty diapers, or have called my husband at work to see if there was a dirty diaper I missed in the middle of the night.
Keeping track of feedings is key! Whether you are breastfeeding or formula feeding, there is a part of the journal that helps you keep track of how many ounces or how long that baby has fed on each breast.
There is also a section for naps (to keep track of patterns), notes for the day and tummy time. I can openly admit that I was terrible at making sure the baby had tummy time
This is also helpful for babysitters–when my mom would stay with the baby I’d need a whole run down when I got back home. This makes it easy to keep track of everything.
Feeding times are extra important too, especially for the parents that run shifts in the household. When everyone is on the same page, baby gets fed ON TIME!
Features of the baby journal include:
