How did all of you northeast make it through the snow? I am happy it wasn’t as bad as was expected and I am also happy that I got a day home. Even though I was working from home it was nice not having to get up at 5:10am, get two kids and myself ready and barely make a school bus arrival. Yes. It was awesome.
Holy smokes running long distances on a treadmill is hard work. I’ve only run over 7 miles once before and that was because I was in Orlando and it was 92 degrees with full humidity outside. Last week I thought I prepared but ended up a complete mess.
I decided that I would take my tablet, wifi connection and sheer determination to the gym to run 8 miles last Friday. I turned on my HULU to continue my binge watching of The Good Wife and began my run. About mile 4 I realized this was going to be way harder than I expected.
The reason why I started to “feel it” is because I truly didn’t treat it like a “long run”. Had it been normal temps outside I would have packed my flipbelt with gu, clif shots, and filled my water bottle with a nuun hydration tablet. I did none of the above.
So yes, I was running 8 miles with nothing but water to drink. This may work for some but for me? I needed something
anythingto keep me going. The crazy part is that I have plenty of gu and nuun at home! Lesson learned. I will be fully prepared for today’s 9-10 miler!
Monday: 4 mile run
Tuesday: rest day/snow day
Wednesday: 4 mile run + upper body
Thursday: hot yoga (I’m back baby! 3rd time this month!)
Friday: 9-10 mile run
Saturday: Teaching Zumba at the dojo
So this Princess Half is starting to get really real, but also because this race officially starts my “race season” <--- it STILL feels completely weird to say that! I am tying up loose ends this week by getting tickets and booking dining reservations for after the half. We will be in Disney (CHILD FREE) for less than 48 hours (sound familiar? Yes I also did this last October! Don't judge!) so I want to maximize the time as much as possible! NYRR also added more races to their calendar so I could at least begin to sketch the framework of which 9 races I will be running this year. I am already registered for 3 so I need to schedule/register for 6 more to be guaranteed entry to the 2016 TCS NYC Marathon. I honestly don't even know if I am going to want to run it again next year after my inaugural year this year but something tells me--I will. 🙂 It was announced on Wednesday that FITNESS magazine was sold and there would no longer be print versions of the popular health and wellness publication. I am SO sad this has happened! I have had a FITNESS subscription since college and it has always been one of my favorite magazines. Not to mention I've attended the amazing #FitBlogNYC (2013 & 2014) an event thrown by FITNESS magazine for bloggers. Although it will still be available digitally I am a physical book kind of girl and will miss the printed version dearly. Are you going to miss FITNESS magazine?Have you ever underprepared for a run? How was your fitness and eating week? What show would you watch if you had to do a long run on the treadmill?
