Christmas Day is under 2 weeks away. My shopping list has barely been touched. I have lofty ideas about what I want to get people but have I made the choice to actually purchase said items? Nope. I’ll get there eventually though.
As my kids are growing older they are starting to realize the magic of Santa, writing letters and all that jazz. My eldest child Josh, 7, wants a boatload of things, my little guy Jacob–will be happy with anything as long as it has wheels on it!
Yet I’m faced with a slight dilemma. Last year we had SO many gifts from friends and family (blessed!) that we had to spread the “release” of toys over weeks to come. Add to that a birthday just 5 days before Christmas it’s a TON of new toys in the house.
A part of me wants to ask them to pick five things only, then I remember my own childhood where I got everything I wanted (yas only child life!). So why shouldn’t I get my kids all they want?
Am I being selfish because I don’t want to have a million new toys in the house when we already have enough for years to come? I’ve been steady donating and dumping old toys–Marie Kondo style. Just the thought of the insane influx of new stuff is just…whew. I guess I’m struggling with giving them ALL THE THINGS and teaching them that what they have is enough, is there any balance in between?Do you give your kids everything on their wishlist? Yay or Nay? When is enough? #holidays #ChristmasClick To Tweet
