2015 Year Of Fitness
For the past two years I have hosted Fitlist, a fun linky where bloggers can come together and share their fitness goals for the year. How did I do for 2015?! Check it out!

-
Yoga once a week
Epic fail! I went to yoga more than I did last year but definitely not once a week–once a month is more like it (and that’s pushing it).
-
Run 3 times a week
Check! Not so much towards the end of the year but absolutely more than 3x a week for 2015. This is a huge accomplishment because there were many days where I didn’t want to run and I did it anyway. So many mornings of my alarm ringing mercilessly at 4:30am. So many times where I just had to start moving and prayed it turned into a run–and it always did.
-
Cross train regularly using body weight exercises
This one was a hit or miss! Some weeks I was in the gym lifting right along with my running and some weeks I couldn’t do anything else. I hope to do better in 2016! -
-
Complete the five borough series
So done!! This was actually super fun. I ran an unforgettable emotional Brooklyn Half, the Queens 10k in humidity, a chilly but awesome Bronx 10 miler and the Staten Island half hours before I jumped on a plane to Israel. I am now registered for my first NYC Half in March and I can’t wait to run it as it’s been a bucket list race for me for years. (It was so nice not having to bite my nails for the lottery!!)![]()

Complete the 2015 TCS NYC marathon
I did this. Although it has been a struggle–a real struggle to accept my time and really feel like a marathoner–I am one. It was so hard and just thinking about it now gives me chills but I completed it. Could my training have been better? Absolutely. If I decide to do it again next year will my training be any better? Probably not. Working full time while picking up and dropping off my kids leaves little to no time for running. Yet I want to try again.

I did something I never thought I could. Something that was on my bucket list for as long as I could remember and I had amazing friends and family helping me along the way. ![]()
-
Take a CrossFit class once monthly
This did not happen! I didn’t even take ONE class! Ooops?
-
Moon up in Half Fanatics
The funny thing is that I was one race away from mooning up! I was supposed to run Grete’s Great Gallop as a part of my 20 mile training run for the marathon. Except my train decided to lose power and since I had no other transportation it was my first DNS. It also cost me my new moon! Boo. Not sure if I will moon up next year since running next year will not be nearly as intense as this year.
-
Attend a ZIN Jam Session
Did not happen (again).
-
Take a boutique spin class once a month
This DID happen! I may not have taken a class every month but I have taken at least 12-15 classes when I was on the classpass this year! My favorite cycling class in NYC hands down was Peloton. So great!
What an amazing year! Ive completed more races this year than I ever thought possible. I’ve already picked and chosen which races I want to repeat and which races I want to try for the first time.

I really pushed my body to incredible limits. I’m so excited to see what 2016 will bring as I shift from building a running base to building a more diverse routine that will include tons more strength training and a lot less cardio. Thank you readers for another amazing year, for your consistent and loyal support, your comments, your tweets, your Facebook messages of encouragement. Each one of them builds me back up when it feels like I can do no more.
In the new year there is so much to look forward to. I have been working on a few challenges, printables, and more goodies to make 2016 our best wellness year yet. This will be the last official post until January 4th. There may be some new posts that tie some loose ends but the really good stuff goes live on January 4th!
So grateful for a super active, extremely fun, challenging and confidence building 2015. I can’t wait to create, share and celebrate all that is coming in 2016 with YOU.
Love,
Nellie

I love that. “So done!” That’s the best feeling. I accomplished zero fitness goals or anything this year, but so many more. The better to get cracking for 2016!

You had a great year! I think I get cautious about setting goals I may not achieve, but reading this makes me realize that it can be good to have goals to strive for, even if I don’t reach them 100%.
