How’s it going?!
I am just so happy its Friday, it has definitely been one of those weeks where each day has gone extremely slow and all I am looking forward to is the weekend! The crazy part is that the holidays has absolutely nothing to do with the crazy–its just been one of those weeks.
My cross training this week was pretty awesome (if I say so myself!). I made a vow to be better with Yoga and stretching to be a better runner (and be more centered in general). So instead of waiting for January 1 to kick off this new lifestyle, I made a goal to attend Hot Yoga this week and I did it! I was actually really scared to return–a few years ago before my second born I became addicted to Hot Yoga, I spent 6 months attending 3-4 classes a week. It was all I wanted to do!
I really haven’t been back to the studio in 3 years so I was more than nervous because my flexibility sucks and I really didn’t know how well I would do. I am happy to say that I had the most awesome instructor who let me “flow” and relax as much as I needed to. I was able to keep up with the class way more than I thought, even with sweat pouring out of me, I was able to do every move–some with modification, but some straight up! My favorite position is the warrior pose, I always feel SO strong when I do that one!
I can’t wait to incorporate this weekly–I just have to make sure I stick to it, I tend to get distracted by shiny pretty endorphin inducing activities!
I also got to try out these new tights that I got from the Asics Sample Sale last month!
I didn’t do much running this week–boo–I know. I did run outside at the beginning of the week and what was intended to be a 2 mile easy run turned into 3.56 miles and that was pretty awesome considering I did bodypump the same day. However, things got a bit crazy during the week–and I didn’t get to train as much as I wanted to. With next week being Christmas, I hope to get in at least 2 training runs!
The Princess Half is only a few months away! Holy Cow! I still need a costume! I am clearly not training properly but I know I will make it through :). I did manage to register for the Rock and Roll DC Half Marathon and I am stoked! I have heard nothing but great things about this race. My Sister in Law and Nephew will be there with my boys to cheer me on so it will be extra special. I was a little salty about not getting into the NYC Half but this totally makes up for it! I am now running a half in February, March, April & May–with more smaller races in between because I am going to attempt the 9+1 race guaranteed entry into the 2016 NYC Marathon…whether I run it or not will depend on my 2015 experience but I have a feeling it won’t be a one and done type race.
It’s back! This year I will be hosting a link up for anyone that will be publishing their fitness/life goals for 2015! You don’t have to post on a specific day but the linky will open on January 5th! Your post doesn’t have to be fitness related, the linky is really for all goal setting posts so that we can encourage each other and keep each other motivated throughout the year. You have more than enough time to think of your goals and I sure hope you come party with me! 2015 is really going to be all kinds of AWESOME! Check out last years fun!
- My friend Carly wrote a post that made me cry and gave me the exact encouragement I needed at the very right time. Don’t you love when that happens?
- Why didn’t you guys tell me about the Serial podcast? I am now obsessed, on episode 6 and can’t think of ANYTHING ELSE! (No spoilers–PLEASE!)
