Have you guys heard of HelloFresh?
Last week I was invited to a media preview dinner which included an amazing cooking lesson and dinner to follow. It was one of the best events I have ever been to–and you guys know I go to a LOT of events. I had a chance to meet the amazing CEO, staff and suppliers of this amazing food delivery service and I can tell you now–I am not only a believer, I am likely now a customer.
Hello Fresh delivers delicious and healthy recipes with all the pre-measured ingredients to your door each week.
Even though it was a cold and rainy night–Joaquin was on his way–I made it down to Miette on Mulberry in Little Italy to check out what HelloFresh was all about. When I walked in I was greeted by everyone in the room, I immediately felt welcome and at ease. I grabbed an Arnold Palmer and immediately went to checkout all of the stations in the room. There was Meat, Seafood, Fruits and Veggies & Bread.
Did I mention there were tasting samples? Yes. I sampled the steak and the pork sausage and it was delicious. The meats are super high quality and fresh. I am a meat snob so I know a good steak when I see one!
The seafood looked super fresh as well. I am allergic to seafood but the tasting reactions I saw were overly positive.
The Fruits and Vegetables
Ah. This was my favorite station–there was a huge spread of fruits and vegetables in all kinds of beautiful colors. They had sliced mangoes for sample and they were the ripest yummiest mangoes I have EVER tasted–and I GREW UP on mangoes during my visits to Jamaica several times a year when I was younger. I wanted to sneak the plate away but I decided to behave.
Oh my word. The bread. My arch nemesis. Yet, my best friend. They had all kinds of bread on display for sample including a sourdough, multigrain and even breadsticks. They also had kosher salt and extra virgin olive oil for dipping.
The Cooking Lesson
The group was split into three teams. I was on Team Latkes. We were all given duties throughout (for example: I peeled the potato while my teammates chopped the onion). I haven’t had latkes since grade school and I don’t know why I have waited so long to have them again. The recipe was a Level 3 recipe which is their most advanced type of recipe but I found it pretty easy to do.
I have never made beet salad before but I was super impressed with the ease of it.
Finally it was time for us to eat. I had prechosen the steak with horseradish sauce and potatoes. The real star of the show however was the kale and quinoa salad that we had for appetizers. It was SO good. I was even able to grab the extras to take home with me the next day!
During the dinner we got to hear from the CEO of HelloFresh. He shared with us that he understood that we were all super busy and that it takes a lot to really get a freshly prepared meal on the table every night.
He explained to us that HelloFresh is more than food, it is an experience. Their mission is to get families and friends around the dinner table with fresh ingredients and even better company. By having everything ready for you in the box you have no excuse to not only make better choices but make real, amazing food right in your own kitchen.

I am so excited to try my first box, and I will be sure to share that experience with you. Right now, if you sign up for HelloFresh you can get $20 off your first box! Boxes come in family size or even just for two. The price of the boxes are really worth it because if you rely on takeout (as I sometimes do) the price of the takeout is WAY more than the HelloFresh box!
It was such an incredible time meeting the staff, suppliers and other press on hand at the HelloFresh event. Stay tuned for my review!
