Fitness Magazine Blogger Meet and Tweet
I was so excited to be invited to the Fitness Magazine Blogger Meet and Tweet last week. It was my absolute favorite event of 2013 and I knew it would be just as amazing this year. Especially because a lot more of my friends would be there, so that made it even more special.
This year’s agenda was very similar to last year–we would be learning about the latest trends in healthy living, cooking, and social media. The Fitness Magazine Blogger Meet and Tweet was held at the beautiful Mercedes Club, a stunning gym on the upper west side of NYC.
Our first panel featured fitness superstar Holly Rilinger. The Editor In Chief of Fitness Magazine led the interview panel on how we can maximize our workouts with the time we have. Some of my favorite tips from Holly:
- Make sure you are incorporating at least 7 hours of sleep to maximize effects from workouts
- Consistency is the key to success schedule workouts as if they were business meetings
- Figure out what is going to give you the best bang for your workout
Next we heard from Marci A. Goolsby, a doctor from the hospital for special surgery that deals with a lot of injuries that come from exercise. Her best advice?
- Listen to your body!
- Don’t be afraid to rest or skip a training run if your body needs it
- Be careful about hip injuries because they could lead to something very serious
- Most injuries don’t require you sit out completely, it usually means you can do alternate activities
- Take rest weeks off after major competitions like half marathons and marathons, ease back into activity.
Next we got to hear from the amazing Carla Hall. I watched and rooted Carla on during both of her Top Chef appearances (sidebar: yay for a new season!) and I absolutely adore her on The Chew! She gave us some great cooking tips, shared a lot of her personal story and yes, I managed to love her a little bit more. Then, there was THIS.

Me and the amazing @carlaphall one of cohosts of “The chew”! She shared so much foodie knowledge with us, made me want to cook all the things!! #fitblognyc #thechew
It was then time for food and mingling! I was stationed at the Balance Bar booth and it was so much fun talking with other bloggers about the products! They were all as excited as I was about the new Balance Bare Sea Salt Caramel flavor! There were some other great sponsors on hand that included Eddie Bauer, Dermalogica, Luna, Oster Versa, Tria, Tonalin, Hoka One One (can’t wait to try their running shoes!) Reebok and Pure Protein.
Finally it was time for the social media panel that had a large theme and it was really all about being authentic. Stick with your voice because you are unique! You have all heard this from me a million times buts so true, no one can tell your story but you.
After that we were handed our insane swag bag along with a pair of kicks from Reebok. It was insane, and because I don’t have proper patience staging skills, I will share the photo from my friend Namaste Mari.
My most favorite part of the event was seeing the true loves of my life that I met through blogging but love as my family.
Thank you Fitness Magazine for a very well executed event and I hope to see you next year!

I schedule workouts now. It’s the ONLY way they are going to get done. And for the most part, I have to schedule them at o dark thirty in the AM because that is the ONLY time that I won’t mess with someone else’s work schedule or mine!

Looks like you had lots of fun!

You always get to go to the BEST events! That Balance Bare sounds delicious…almost dangerously so! I only schedule my workouts inasmuch as they are during my lunch break at work. If I don’t do it then, there’s no way I’ll get it done later. Also, I love that outfit on you…perfectly sassy and cute!

I don’t know if I can take a whole week off. I’m itching to do something! But it is good advice.
I always like tips that require me to sleep. I love me some zzz’s!
