There are few actresses/celebrities that I adore. One of those people without a shadow of a doubt is the one and only Jennifer Garner. As a super fan of the show “Alias” and all of her movies since I was crazy excited to get the invitation to see her new film with Steve Carell Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good bad day and film adaptation of the very popular children’s book.
The event was sponsored by Lands End and we got an opportunity to check out (and try on) the fall/winter line of coats, they had one in every size which was awesome. There were tons of great designs, fabrics and colors. Every piece was high quality and certainly up to the task of keeping you warm through the brutal NYC winter.
The kids fall/winter line was also on display. I am completely in love with the faux fur vest and the accessories like the hats and scarves to keep the kids looking great while keeping them warm.
After we got to check out the awesome threads and the candy bar from Sweet suite candy, we got to check out the movie. I remember reading the book as a kid but really didn’t remember the exact premise, I just remember that things pretty much go horribly wrong for everyone involved.
The movie was hilarious, it kept me engaged, talking to the screen and shaking my head in awe. What I loved most about the movie was how pure it was. Disney films are so good at making a plot appeal to all ages. The overall message of the movie was heart warming and it really does make you feel good at the end.
Jennifer Garner came to the theater for a quick Q&A with the mommy bloggers (and their kids). She was stunning as I expected and she answered all of the questions with grace and ease. She talked about how tough it was to be a working mom, and how after 3 kids the “shop is closed”. She also spoke about how much she loved working with Steve Carell because he is the “nicest, coolest” person ever.
I highly recommend this movie for a family day out. It is very well done and you won’t regret it!
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Bad Day is in theaters October 10.

I keep seeing commercials for this and thought it looked like a pretty funny movie, so thank you for your review, because now I totally want to see it 😉
I saw a commercial for this one time and never saw it again. Steve is funny so I know it will be great. Jennifer looks so approachable she is one of my favorite actresses
I’m so excited for this movie to come out. This is one of my favorite childhood books and I can’t wait to see if the movie will do it justice. I’m sure that it does though.
So very cool! Did you get to speak with Jennifer Garner?
I am also a big Jennifer Garner AND Steve Carrell fan so I’m sure I would love this movie. Not sure if it’s for my boys’ ages though??? And I love your point about Disney and how they can make movies relatable (and funny!) to all ages. Go Disney!!
I love Land’s End, first of all. So warm and comfy!
I love Jennifer Garner too. I chuckled at the “the shop is closed.” I may want another.. if I get the nerves. And the money.
And I LOVE that book. I loved it as a child and I love that it was given to Scarlet when she was a baby.
Lands End has come a long way, hasn’t it? The Husband isn’t interested in seeing this move, but I think it looks like fun. Thanks for sharing your review!
I love Jennifer Garner! I remember the book from when I was a kid and the movie looks hilarious! My parents used to always take us to see the latest Disney film the day after Thanksgiving. It’s still a tradition in our house to go to the movies the day after!
Yay! I am thrilled to hear that it’s hysterical because I am going on Tuesday! 🙂
I’m so happy to hear that the movie is coming out and it’s great for the whole family. I loved this book coming up, and recently (unknown that the movie was coming out) I purchased this book for my little kids for their reading library. It’s a classic for sure!
I’m not really a Jennifer Garner fan but the movie looks really funny. Will be taking my kids to see it.
