Weekly Wednesday Workout: Oblique Raises
We are going back to those pesky obliques today!
httpv://youtu.be/ipHGWnq3uys
I picked this one this week because I did these yesterday in my abs express class. I was stunned at how difficult it was to sustain this exercise! It works everything, especially the obliques. I did both this version and the modified version which leaves the bottom leg on the floor and bent at a right angle. Although it was difficult it was good, definitely a move that gets you a lot of bang for your buck!

Ahhhh, the obliques. GAH! These things are HARD. (the exercises, not my abs) I should have known that planking was involved in there somewhere. The leg lift thing looks so easy when he does it, but it doesn’t look quite like that when I attempt it. I’m impressed that you were able to do these (not surprised because you are an awesome fitness goddess, but impressed!) –Lisa
ha it was only because I had a trainer there watching me, on my own? maybe not 🙂
I love the standing oblique crunches! It’s so hard to work your abs while standing up and this one is GREAT!! Thanks again – I’ll be using this in class tonight for sure.
For some reason I never thought of standing and working out your abs, but these do look like they would totally do the job. Thanks for sharing, Nellie!! 🙂
You are so welcome Janine 🙂
NEVER!NEVER!!
and I so so so need.
SO NEED.
🙂 Miz
Child please I did a new exercise on Monday and my thighs are killing me and I do mean killing me I can’t even bend down without being in pain
yay girl that means you did something RIGHT 🙂
Can’t wait to get to the standing oblique work!!! And those side leg crunches are painful!!
They are Kim! But you totally rock all the moves so I have no worries.
That guy is getting all sweaty! I think I like standing obliques better than not. I don’t like sitting or laying down to exercise. It makes me want to stay on the ground longer. And go to sleep.
Ha! That is how I feel about yoga, it is a touch TOO relaxing 🙂
Pesky is a good description, lol! I must put this down in the notebook!
Your class ain’t gonna like me! 🙂
Oh my gosh these are so hard! Plus, I can never find a good position where my hip doesn’t hurt!
I know what you mean, put a towel under your hip helps!
Thank you for the eye candy in that video.
You are welcome Josie!
I have yet to do this! I’m thinking I am going to hVe to work my way up to these!
Its pretty awesome!
I’ve done variations of these in many of my workouts…definitely the planks are the hardest…especially since abs are usually toward the end of the workout.
Yeah, I’ve actually started doing them ahead of any workout and it makes a difference, especially because my energy level is higher for the moves!
Nice! You always share a lot of good ab exercises.
yeah, I am learning as I go. Thanks!
Now you know I can’t do those! I haven’t been to boot camp in so long its going to be like starting over! Ugh!
welp, the only way to get back into it is to start!! 🙂 Besides, I totally believe you can do it!!
Oh this looks like something I would want to try! Like one of the previous commenters stated, I never thought of doing ab workouts standing up, but these look like they would be effective!
they are great Britton!
Oh my! You’ve inspired me to want to bring these back into my workout! I can remember doing them and they made my abs feel like I had done them for at least a week straight! 🙂
ha they are awesome. Welcome back Brittnei!
