A Cooking Class with Good Food & Good Friends

by Nellie

You know when you expect food to taste a certain way and it totally doesn’t and you end up cleaning the plate? That was me, last week at the Jenny Craig event last week!!

My amazing friend Kelly from No Thanks To Cake invited me to come to an event that she would be hosting on behalf of Jenny Craig. She has lost a ton of weight on the program and would be sharing her story with media outlets and influencers alike.

I have never had Jenny Craig foods, I am a bit of a control freak when it comes to my food so I’ve never even thought to give Jenny a try since they provide all of your meals for you. However, I was in for a very special treat because I got to hang out with my girl and chat Fitbloggin and life while eating some delicious bites. You may remember that she led the after hours chat at the conference.

I walked in a little late because of work obligations and horrendous traffic but I got in just in time to learn about “volumizing” your food. We were taught by professional chefs tips on how to plate your food and add lots of fruits and veggies to really fill your plate and make the food “pop”!SAMSUNG CSC

For example I was given two little whole wheat waffles and toppings and I was able to make THIS! It was awesome. All of a sudden instead of two sad looking waffles I had a plate full of fruit and spices that not only made it look like a lot more food was in the plate but really nice for presentation *blogging* purposes too!

Next, Kelly shared her story and why she started her blog No Thanks To Cake. She is so eloquent, super genuine and I was so proud of her!

We then were able to sample from the new selections Jenny is offering for the fall that are largely based on comfort foods. There were so many yummy things available including:

  • Pot Roast with veggies
  • Margarita Pizza
  • Chicken Quesadillas

The food was all pretty great but I was really blown away with how good the apple crisp and chocolate lava cake were (YES I had both, don’t judge!), I mean just delish!!SAMSUNG CSC
We even got some Jenny Craig treats to take home and my hubby gobbled them all up. The food a surprisingly GOOD! I don’t know there may be a Jenny Craig meal planning my future!

Have you ever tried Jenny Craig? How was your fitness and wellness week?

My aunt swears by Jenny Craig and has had a lot of success with it! And can I just say I love Kelly? She really is a genuine person. Although I don’t know her very well at all, she surprised me in the best way possible.
Great post and have a great weekend!

What a fabulous event! I was so bummed to be away on vacation and couldn’t come…to see two of my favorite beautiful and incredible blogger/sister friends together is a magnificient thing! That found looks incredible! I’ve never tried Jenny Craig but I’m impressed by Kelly’s posts and now what you made at the event. I’m all about volumizing food! 🙂 I’m having a good food and fitness week and feel like I’m getting back to me!

This just made me SO hungry! Ah, the food photos.
I’ve never tried Jenny Craig because I’m underweight but I accompanied my friend there and she had incredible success. I was happy to be with her on her journey. She just had a baby but I know she’s getting right back there.

Love this post. I was JUST talking about you today with Brandi, and specifically sharing how much it meant to me that you were able to join me at this event! There was something so special about having a friendly, reassuring family member in the crowd. I adore you, and we MUST do this again soon! Meaning, get together… eat delicious food… chat… and laugh a bit. xoxo

So this is the second post in a row I’ve read about waffles, and now I want one! The berries & cinnamon definitely spruce up the plate, too! Great job!
