I knew that the Women Get Social conference was going to be amazing full of awesome content but what I didn’t expect was the happy I experienced meeting new (and old!) blog friends.
Philly is one of my favorites places, you all know this. Attending to Women Get Social was a no brainer. I learned so much stuff and unlike the last time, I don’t feel overwhelmed, but instead I got confirmation. I know exactly what I want to do with this blog. I had a vision before but attending this conference helped me to be crystal clear about where I wanted to go. The inspirational women in the room was all I needed to really say…why not me?
It was so nice to get so much knowledge from the masterminds behind the SITS girls Tiffany and Francesca. Within the first few minutes of the introduction Tiffany shouted me out from the stage! This brown girl was blushing like crazy.
There was so much stuff that happened but first let me share my Top Five takeaways from Women Get Social Philadelphia:
1)What kind of bloggers are brands looking for?
- Visually appealing
- Congruency
- Be really strong on one platform (twitter, Facebook, etc.)
2) Take pictures at 3 different angles
- Only include what you need in posts
- Try to capture vertical and horizontal
3) Ebooks
- Choose a sellable topic
- Inspire educate or entertain
- Make sure you are keeping your target audience in mind
4) Affiliate marketing
- Your audience has to trust you
- Identify programs and products you love
- Promote products to your audience
5) Google sheets
- Use Google sheets to keep track of your blog income
- Open up a separate bank account and deposit only blog income

Outside of all that learning there was the Social part of Women get Social Philadelphia and boy did we ever! I got to see my Brooklyn homegirl Andrea, meet my tribe member Leslie from Pampers, Play dates and Parties (whom I ADORE) and so many more.
My absolute favorite part about the women get Social conference is that it makes me think way out of the box. You all know I attend lots of conferences, but this is the one conference that turns on light bulbs for me. While I was listening to one presentation in particular, I wrote down 5–FIVE different Ebooks that I want to write…before getting to Women Get Social Philadelphia I really don’t know if those ideas would have been born.
There were also some great sponsors on hand for the conference including LG Electronics that has a great #momconfessions campaign happening, Mirassou & Personal Black Box.
We learned a lot, we laughed even more and the food was pretty decent too. Women Get Social and Bloggy Boot Camp is really one of the only conferences I have been to that gives you the real. No fluff, no beginner coddling, all tangible and extremely useful information. You leave with a library full of knowledge and I can’t wait to go again next year! It is a can’t miss conference.

I really could use this as I am stuck in a huge blogging rut right now! I would love to get the point where I could put some funds in my pocket but for right now I have to get better. Hopefully I will get to go to one of these some day! Great review!
I am really really liking toward to the one here inAtlanta next month! I have two ebook topics in mind. Let’s see which one gets written first!
As you know, I really wanted to attend this one but my best friend had to go ahead and get married on the same weekend!! I definitely want to attend next year. I love everything you said about it – no BS and all thought-provoking. That’s MY kind of conference!
I really wanted to go to this conference but it was literally sandwiched right after the first week of school for Emma, the first weekend of Fall soccer and right before Lily started her new pre-school that Monday. One of the days I am going to get to go to a conference you are at and finally meet up with you and so many other wonderful bloggers, too. Thank you though for always sharing all you learned and definitely some great tips here 🙂
Great tips Nellie! I love how inspiring this conference was for you! I definitely want to write an ebook and I have a couple of ideas but the execution is holding me back. I need more hours!
I’ve only been to one conference so I suppose it was the best!
I want to go to a SITS conference so BADLY. And meet all of you! I’d love to write an ebook about anxiety or photography.. or both.
Aww, Nellie you have me blushing now!!! When Tiffany called you out I very nearly cheered out loud in front of everyone. You’re a great friend. These are definitely some of the best takeaways, too. Now I always find myself rotating the camera and moving around more. The Husband even called me “paparazzi” a few nights ago. Keep up the great work, and I hope to get to go again next year!
Great takeaways! I’ll have to look into Google Sheets. You’ve already done amazing things with this space. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
Oh and yes, I have written an e-book. Currently at work on #2! 🙂
Wow, WGS looked like it was going to be a great event. I will definitely have to try to make it the next time I’m in Philly. That’s so awesome that you were inspired to come up with e-Book ideas! Blogging conferences seem so positive and full of great energy!
Looks like it was a great event and I loved your takeaways. I always enjoy the SITS events. It wasn’t in the cards for me this year though.
