Weekly Wednesday Workout: Advanced Russian Twists
It’s time to get back working on those ABS!!
httpv://youtu.be/lvNPZCtt8NQ
I am quite familiar with the original Russian twist, but this version is a bit advanced! This requires some serious core strength as well as balance to pull this one off. (Did you SEE that his feet are OFF the floor?!) I do love it though because I need some serious core work so I am excited to add this to the routine. Usually I find a girl video, but this time I decided to stop discriminating on the guys and throw them a bone 🙂

I’m sure when I go back to bootcamp, there will be some sort of torture like that waiting for me. He makes it look easy but since I have done core exercises with my feet off the ground, I know it’s not!
the feet off the ground is honestly the toughest part for me, but its worth a try!
I am tripping off buddy throwing up that pyramid the entire time 🙂 Maybe he’s a HOV fan 😉
LOL of course he is! That makes total sense 😉
Oh Good Lord that looks hard! I am not sure my core is strong enough to handle that…neither is any other part of me! ;)-Ashley
lol Ashley! I don’t have a strong core either but we can work to get there (one day!)
Oh man, if I never had sciatica, would love to give a try, but I think my chiropractor would kill me if I did this and put myself into traction!! But thanks for sharing and seriously wish I could do stuff like this still!!
I’m sorry Janine! I had sciatica with both of my pregnancies and oh my word I have never felt pain like that in my LIFE!
I always think Russian Twists are hard (they sort of make me dizzy!!). I’ve done them with my feet off the ground but I usually clasp my hands – I will have to try them with my arms extended to see if it makes a difference.
Feet off the ground is tough!
Umm Ummm Umm……
I need this, but I’m scared…….
This is NO JOKE girl! but we can try!
Ommm not with the legs off the ground that’s way to heavy for me right now I would fall out after the first twist
The legs off the ground is the hardest part for me too. Then I just leave my legs down and keep it movin
I’ve done the original Russian twist before and got a serious cramp in my obliques. That one looks harder and I don’t think I’m willing to tackle it…maybe when i can do a few sets of RT without the cramps. Lol. My abs are weak…smh
I know, those babies stretch us allll the way out and it is tough to recover!
Girl, I have the balance of a drunk elephant. I don’t guess this advanced version will be for me. But the regular version might work. I do remember liking how tight my abs felt after doing those.
LOL yeah the regular version is tough for me as well, I think I need to master those first!
Wow, those look intense! Definitely not for the fitness level I’m at. 😉
Hi Susannah, thank you so much for stopping by! This exercise is pretty intense but worth a try!!
I usually do this with my hands closer to my body. I have a feeling that probably makes it easier! 🙂
ha, maybe! This version is no joke!
I like to add a medicine ball! This is a great one:-)
nice that is a great idea Allie! I gotta try.
I hadn’t seen that one before. For the main abs it more or less is a static hold, while the sides get a bit of work. I wonder what gets exhausted first.
personally, my abs get super tired quickly! I need to strengthen my core however!
I love a good plank for the abs!!
yep this is a really great exercise!
I love ab exercises. Sometimes I forget to do anything else!
See, now that is a good problem to have.
ABSolutely! Haha…couldn’t resist!
LOL Carli
Okay…you won’t see me doing those anytime soon – maybe after a few months of serious strength training. Go you for being so strong!
ha, I didn’t say I could do a lot of them, but I can try!
Okay, this definitely looks challenging…in a good way! I’ll have to add this move into my routine…slowly, lol!
It is so tough but good!
