A Killer 90s R&B Workout Playlist & a Mystery Spin Class

What is UP y’all? Happy Friday!

Friday Fitness (1)

You would think that I would get some down time considering that I no longer work a full time job right? Except it is the complete opposite–this full time blogger thing is actually super time consuming, which makes you wonder–how on earth did I do it with a full time job?! A lot of people ask me this question–I still don’t have an answer 🙂

This week was full of workouts, great music and plenty of mystery!

Monday: I ran 5.07 miles on Monday–I felt good, slightly sore from the Fitbloggin fun over the weekend but still ready to run. The treadmill has clearly become my best friend and I’m okay with this, for now, while the miles are still relatively small. I felt great throughout the run which was encouraging because it was the first time in a long time that I actually felt GOOD during a training run.

Tuesday: So I was invited to join a CYC Fitness Spinning class in midtown. The funny thing is that I really wasn’t sure WHY I was there, or for which brand–but the class looked legit so I went. (Looking back though, I probably could have been kidnapped because of my love for spinning, but that’s neither here nor there).

It was a really fun class! The instructor was ON it, the sweat was so real and it really reminded me again why I love spin classes, the music, the endorphins–it’s just so awesome.

Turns out we were all health and fitness instagrammers that inspire! Which was super cool, it was simply a celebration for us to keep going and keep creating community on Instagram. So nice! We got a cute little goodie bag too. 🙂

Wednesday: This day was really tough. I had spent the day at two events, running up and down the city, it was 90 plus degrees all day (hello heat wave, can you give us a break already?!) so the notion of running 4 miles for marathon training after all of that was daunting to say the least.

I put my gym clothes on, literally repeated to myself out loud over and over “It’s only 4 miles, it’s only 4 miles” and I went and DID IT! Remarkably, I felt extremely strong and I ran the fastest miles I’ve run in 3 weeks. I can’t even with my body. I need my body and my brain to get together and decide that we are going to train for the marathon together. 🙂

Friday: Today is long run day! Since I will be spending my weekend at a blogger conference that is in town and a Children’s Fashion Show, I will have to get my long run miles done today with a shorter run on Sunday. Having the flexibility to do my long runs on a weekday is just priceless.

So there was one super amazing thing that got me through that dreaded run on Wednesday and that was this brilliant 90s R&B list curated by Spotify. There may have been lip syncing and hand dancing throughout :).

How was your fitness and health week? Do you listen to the Spotify created playlists? What are your weekend plans?

I have always wondered how you blogged AND worked fulltime. I mean seriously. How did you manage to go to all those events, train, work full time and blog?? LOL That playlist is everything. Let me go get that playlist now….

Love it!!! You are getting after it all and doing it well. And yes, I absolutely love that I can do my long workouts during the week and have plenty of family time on the weekends. Welcome to the club 🙂

Nellie, the full-time blogger thing is truly time consuming and I honestly am with the majority when I say I don’t know how you did this and worked full-time, because I can attest to the hours I have put in over the years without another job to go to. That said, you rock and are my hero for that and more!! 🙂

Isn’t it amazing when you have great runs when you least expect it? I absolutely love that! It looks like your training is going really well!

I really never consider R&B for a workout playlist, but I love all the songs that were on your Spotify playlist. I think I’ll be making some adjustments for my running playlist for tomorrow’s long run!

Blogging is work! But the reward of setting your own schedule now is worth every minute of it. I am still doing my walking and lost 4lbs so I am moving in the right direction!

You just reminded me – I was listening to the 90’s station on Sirius all weekend in Cassidy’s new car.
Blogging is totally full time. When I have other jobs to do – like photography and data entry – I die a little.
Worth it, though!

Yes, the FT blogger thing is all consuming. But it’s so much fun, isn’t it? What a fun surprise that spin class was!

Your blog is beautiful! Your work out routine is the best! Doing both is simply amazing.
I run once a week only with my family, I staryed this year every sunday. I listen to christian songs while running. I don’t worl out that much because I’m already so thin. Cardio exercise will make me thinner so I just simply enjoy running with my loved ones and enjoying the scenery while listening to good music. I salute you for being fit and healthy and at the same time managing a really nice blog. How do you do that? Do youhave a secret time management plan?
