  1. Prepare the white candy melts according the package instructions. Dip the pretzels into the melted chocolate and remove from the bowl with a fork. Lightly tape the handle of the fork on the edge of the bowl to remove excess chocolate.
  2. Place the coated pretzels on a piece of parchment or wax paper and allow to cool and harden, around 30 minutes.
  3. When the white chocolate is hardened, melt the red candy according to the package instructions and transfer to a piping bag.
  4. Drizzle the red chocolate over the top of the pretzels, then immediately top with sprinkles while the chocolate is still soft.
  5. Allow the red chocolate to cool and harden before serving, around 30 minutes.

Storing Leftovers

Leftover chocolate covered pretzels should be stored in an airtight container at room temperature. It’s best to enjoy them within a week for maximum freshness and crunch.

Freezing Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Freezing chocolate-covered pretzels is easy. Just place them in a Ziploc bag or a freezer bag and store them in the freezer. Before serving, let them come to room temperature to avoid any condensation forming on the chocolate.

FAQs, Tips, and Tricks

  • If you don’t have candy melts, you can use white chocolate chips with a few drops of food coloring to achieve the same patriotic colors.
  • The process can get messy, so make sure to have some napkins on hand.
  • If you have any leftover melted chocolate, pour it into a piping bag or a decorating bag with a small tip, and drizzle over the pretzels for an additional layer of color and fun.
  • Don’t forget to add the sprinkles while the candy melt is still wet, as they will not stick to the hardened candy.
