Weekly Wednesday Workout: Single Leg Squats
So this week we are sticking to the same youtube channel as a couple weeks ago and I have no doubt there will be future videos from here as well! This one is the Single leg squat, I do squats every week, but this one is definitely taking squats to a different level.

I was a little hesitant to try this out because of my knee issues, but it caused no pain. I have some balance issues and after the comments from the week before, it looks like a lot of you have issues with balance too. The great thing about this exercise is that even if you don’t have a body bar to stabilize you, you can easily use the side of a couch or even a wall to help hold you up. This exercise is fantastic for the butt, (just like all squats) and you can feel it rather quickly in your quads, butt and hamstrings. It’s a great way to switch up the regular squats.
Have you ever tried Single leg squats?

ON THE TRAMPOLINE!!
Oh man! I want a trampoline so bad, but I have no faith that I won’t land on the concrete in the back yard :/
So……….One leg up??? *snicker*
girl! LOL
No, I’ve never tried to but I would like to. My legs do not look great in dresses lately. Not enough muscle tone!
It’s a pretty cool exercise good for the quads especially.
Um, that looks really hard! And I am pretty sure I would fall down! ;)-Ashley
If you do it like Nellie said and hold on to something, it can work for you too.
one day Ashley, one day!!
Exactly! If you can’t do an exercise like you are supposed to, find your personal way to make it work for you. I too have some knee troubles and have to be careful with all exercises involving them. Sometimes it means I can’t go as deep as advertised, but that is still indefinitely better than just leaving out leg work.
right! I initially thought I wouldn’t be able to squat but even a squat that doesn’t dip all the way is still tough!
I wasn’t aware you had knee issues dear! I haven’t done them lately, maybe I will work them in.
yeah a few weeks ago I think I might have overtrained it, so I have been doing less impact exercises as of late.
Yes – love one-legged squats!! I like the fact that even though they are mainly working my butt, hamstrings and quads – the balance aspect helps me hold in my core, too!!
yes, I totally forgot to mention the core! It works that out too!
you got that right…it’s taking it to a level i’ll never be able to squat to! i saw a slideshow on twitter from Redbook Mag that said we (notice i said “we”!) should switch up our squats and this version is one that was shown.
lol! you can totally do it, especially if you are holding on to something!
What’s the purpose of doing one leg squats? Is it reserved for if you have an injury or is it just more effective than the typical squats? It looks intimidating though, but I’ll try it…just for the feel of it.
I think its more of an isolation technique, because if you have all of your weight on one leg, you work it twice as hard. It’s not so bad if you hold on to something!
You are so right Honey!
