Take Two: AirBnB Brooklyn Half – Ready To Run My Borough

We made it to the end of the week. How was your week? Was it amazing? Not so much? My week was pretty normal except I really had to find the time for fitness are it may have never happened.

Monday: I had about 35 minutes so I decided to go to Blink and do a weights only session. You guys now I love my weight training but I normally do a 10 minute cardio warm up as a starter. I skipped the cardio and went straight into some new moves I learned from the Fit Factory class I took last week as well as incorporating some old school moves like squats and lunges.

It was a hard session! Every single muscle was trembling and I was ready to pack it in way before the 35 minutes were up! I loved it however and I must make sure I do at least 1-2 days of this as marathon training season is quickly approaching. I can’t even believe that my training plan for my second marathon begins in 6 weeks!!

Tuesday: I ran a comfortable 6 miles. Since the Brooklyn Half is this weekend, I decided that would be my last run before the race.

Wednesday: not an official workout but I walked about 1.5 miles back and forth between event hopping.

Thurs/Friday: Rest

Apart from the fact that I overdressed miserably (when will I ever get this right?!) I had a great race last Saturday. I ran in the mid to high 12s which is actually a huge improvement in the last 6 months. Plus a nearly 10 minute difference from my 10k just a few months ago.

Somehow I ran negative splits! As I was running my The Nike lady told me that my average mile per pace was getting faster. I was hype! Especially because my TomTom watch froze literally as I crossed the starting line. These technology mishaps are starting to become a trend!

It was a nicer race than last year and I’m happy I did it. It was a nice last โ€œlong runโ€ before Brooklyn.

So the largest half marathon in the world, The AirBNB Brooklyn Half Marathon is upon us. Do I feel prepared? Yes and no. The last long run I did was 3 weeks ago when I ran 10 miles.

I am so excited for the race, rain was predicted but looks like it might be clearing which is nice because the family is coming to see me at the end of the race! I feel completely relaxed about it and I have no insane expectations–I’m just looking to run my borough and at the very end kiss my kids in Coney Island.

I think I overdress for everything physical. I never learn!

I saw your AirBnB update on Facebook, and you looked so cute. Congrats on another run! Also, I can’t imagine a 6-mile run being easy. I’m such a horrible runner. ๐Ÿ˜›
