Happy Friday yall!
Sunday: 7 miles
Wednesday: 4 miles
Thursday: rest/work obligations
Friday: 5 miles??
Ahh the weather has been glorious! Somehow I found myself on Sunday with 90 minutes and nothing to do so guess what? I went for a run! This is not a normal occurrence so I was excited to hit the pavement after being married to the treadmill for so long! The run was hard at first–my calves wouldn’t cooperate and it took my a long time to mentally connect to my run.
I did it though! I ran hills over and over, ran on the track and explored all parts of the park. The cool thing was that at 8am I was NOT alone there were tons of baseball games, soccer games and just people enjoying the beautiful weather. Since I used to run so early in my neighborhood seeing lots of people is a wonderful treat! I was back in on the treadmill on Wednesday though and those 4 were tough because of soreness. Which leads me into my next topic!
So I took Bodypump for the first time in 6 weeks. Bad, I know but between keeping my runs first and my hectic schedule I have neglected Bodypump. The problem is that I went to Bodypump right after running seven miles (with hills!) and jumping right back in at the weights I was using prior to the pause.
Can you says DOMS? I was in so much pain. I can take sore but this sore was almost unbearable. On Tuesday I opted to rest my poor muscles and on Wednesday I really didn’t know if I could make it through 4 miles! Lesson learned. If I ever take a break again I will definitely lighten up on the bar.
I’ve had a love affair with Chop’t recently. It’s just so good! Good for my wallet? Not so much! However, I can’t get enough!
I am just 8 days away from a little race called the Brooklyn Half! Whaaaat! I’m so excited for this race I don’t think I can BE anymore excited! Hometown. Lots of friends. Coney freaking Island. Yes please! Plus I’m volunteering at the New Balance pre party handing out bibs which does 2 things 1) counts towards my requirements for marathon entry next year and 2) guarantees entry for the 2016 Brooklyn Half!
This will be my last half until the fall–marathon training begins in just a few short weeks. (Man just typing that made me whimper a little). I’ve got 3 10ks in 6 weeks, and that is a distance I am way more comfortable with!
