What a week!
It’s been a crazy week–and before you say “as usual” I mean it was really crazy. I usually attend maybe around 2-3 events a week. This week had 6–and that was in 3 days.
But I LOVE it. I thrive on crazy. It just happens to be a place that I am very comfortable. That is the awesome part about doing something that you love completely from your toes to the tip of your head, the crazy is not so crazy (to you at least).
It’s Friday yall, it’s time to check in!
Monday: 4 Miles
Tuesday: Rest (busy)
Thursday: 4 Miles
Friday: 5 Miles
As I inch closer and closer to Marathon Training I realize that I have to shift my mindset from “I hope I get my runs in this week” to “I’m going to get my runs in this week”. In preparation for the training I have made it a point to run at least 3 times a week which is not easy at all with my schedule. I have quickly realized that certain workouts that I love like Bodypump, spinning, and weight training will need to take a backseat until this marathon is over.
I will absolutely still cross train (mandatory) but I need to be flexible with scheduling classes depending on my schedule. I have heard so many different accounts about this marathon–mostly positive–but the one that scared me the most was the non training story I heard from a woman at one of my events. I have to make sure that if I have a crazy week I get my training runs in as first priority, everything else will be second.
This week in the midst of the crazy I would have run 3 times. 4 miles on Monday, 4 miles on Thursday and 5 on Friday (today). Next week I have more of the same planned with the hope of adding on 3-4 miles.
On Wednesday I was able to attend a rooftop yoga class and it was so good. Full details on that experience coming next week but let’s just say that my body needed yoga…bad.
I can’t believe it’s almost here! The BROOKLYN HALF is in 2 weeks!! Squee!!! I am so excited to run this race. I mean it’s my hometown so it’s extra special. I have a very fabulous outfit that I can’t wait to wear and I can’t wait to hang out in Coney Island with my family and friends afterwards.
