Sometimes my husbands gifts can be hit or miss. Whether it’s birthdays, Christmas or ahem, Mother’s Day I never know what I am going to get from that man! He has only had 17 years to get it right!!
This Mother’s Day however, he did good yall! He got the family tickets to the Yankees vs. Orioles game on Saturday afternoon. Most people don’t know that I am a hardcore Yankee fan, I play it pretty close to the chest because they mean so much to me! I may have cried real tears when Derek Jeter retired.
So for Husby to get me tickets so early in the year was spectacular!! I was so excited I practically skipped my way to the Bronx. My only apprehension would be how would I keep my 3 year old and 6 year old occupied for 3 hours?!
Here are the items we had in our arsenal
- Coloring books
- Two tablets
- Two cell phones
…and more! You would think we were going to London or something! We ended up using it all, not only on the train ride but while we were seated.
The 6 year old didn’t really like the fact that we were going to a baseball game, he preferred to go somewhere that was “actually” fun. But after he got some of his favorite food (pizza) and my tablet…he was straight.
The 3 year old was more of a wanderer. He kept trying to leave our seating area and ate more food than I have ever seen. He made friends with our neighbors and charmed everyone in sight.
For me, it was a welcome slow down. Something about a baseball game relaxes me like crazy. I’m not thinking about the next post that is due, or the work project that’s about take over my life or the fact that it’s crunch time for a conference I’m co-planning. All I think about is whether or not my team is going to win. Yelling at the top of my lungs when they score or booing the opposing team when they hit a homerun. I can sit back spend quality time with my boys and chill OUT.
We ended the day with ice cream out of a helmet. Does it get any better than that??
Thank you to my amazing husband for forcing me to hit pause on the crazy and enjoy my favorite pastime even if only for 3 hours.
