A Healthy U Conference 2014 Recap
I knew going into the A Healthy U Conference that the day would fly by. I thought I wouldn’t remember a thing. I am happy to say I remember every moment and I will never forget the magic that was created on May 10th, 2014.
This all started as a seed inside of Cassandre. She shared that seed with me and I shared it with Kimberly and before you knew it we spend months watering that seeding diligently and with so much focus. We never fought nor bickered, we gave all our energy into giving the best conferences we could. We wanted to reach the masses, not just us bloggers but the folks in the community that needed to hear the stuff we read about on a daily basis. We wanted to show women how to put their health first despite all the busy.
The day started in an absolute frenzy, no one realizes how many little details go into planning an event until you have to plan it. Since we would have 70+ people in the room, we had to make sure they were all taken care of. We were blessed to have a amazing team of volunteers that allowed us to enjoy the amazing fruit of our little seed. We sold out ALL tickets the Tuesday before so we had a PACKED house!

You know the saying “prepare for the worst”? Well I did. I am happy to say the day had no hiccups, it went so incredibly smoothly that even I was impressed.
What I didn’t expect was the amazing energy in the room. We opened registration at 8:30am and more than half of the attendees were in their seats by 9 am (on a Saturday morning!).
The best part though? I got to meet and reconnect with some of my favorite bloggers! When I saw Allie from VitaTrain4Life I was SO excited! I probably gave her a really tight hug out of excitement (sorry Allie!) and I was crazy excited to see Brittany, Carly, Crystal, Patty, Gina and Lia too!
The panel sessions were better than I could have imagined. Since I was the MC, I got to really enjoy and listen to the panelists like an attendee. I was still movingΒ around the venue but I was happy to enjoy the panels. The giveaways were great, we gave away Bowflex Boosts, Healthy Living Books, Black Girls Run Apparel and so much more. As a host it was crazy fun gettingΒ everyone excited for giveaways (yes, I used my Oprah voice!).
Finally it was time for Zumba! I had 40 minutes to work these ladies out and I had so much fun. I can only imagine what would happen if I had 50 people in my class EVERY WEEK!
I managed to get some video of the class so here is 40 minutes of Zumba condensed into 5 minutes π
Believe it or not next door we had a Yoga class happening, despite all the crazy of my class. I don’t think it affected them too much right? π
The day ended with a wonderful lunch, swag bag distribution and lots of pictures and hugs. I can honestly say that it was one of my greatest accomplishments to date. Β I am so proud of what Cassandre, Kimberly and I were able to do with pretty much nothing. From the amazing information shared to the awesome connections made both old and new–this conference was very much needed and we can’t wait to do it again next year!
There is so much I can say about A Healthy U but my favorite blogger girls put it best in their recaps (will continue to add new links!):

Carly @ Fine Fit Day –Β A Healthy U Conference

Thanks Lashawn, It was really one of the best things I have done in my 31 years.
YAY! So incredibly awesome.
I’m trying to think of a good example. I know it’s happened before that things were more amazing than I thought – usually kid birthday parties! We have a knack.
Yes I remember Scarlet’s party quite well–Alice in Wonderland. Seriously amazing.
I loved getting to see the recap and even see the pic of Allie above, too, Seriously, wish I could have been there, but so glad everything went so well for all of you. π
Maybe you can make it next year?? π
Nellie, if you do this again I’m going to do everything in my power to get there!!!! But you have to promise to teach a Zumba class again and not laugh at my skills:)
HAHA I would never laugh, but I would be so happy if you took my class π
How amazing and wonderful! I’m so glad that you didn’t have any hiccups and things went to well. Just shows you how great the three of you are at planning!
Thanks so much Carla for your support throughout the planning process too!
Oh my gosh! You did SUCH an amazing job planning A Healthy U! It was so great and so fun. It went off seamlessly in my opinion! I can’t imagine how much work you put into it but you could tell that you had dedicated a lot of hours to it! Great job!
SO glad you were able make it Britt!! See you next year π
Many, many congratulations on a successful conference! The most difficult things in life are typically the most rewarding. It looks like you worked incredibly hard, and were rewarded with a fantastic conference. And your Zumba class looks like so much fun! Is it too early to find out if youβre doing it again next year?
Thanks Leslie!! We are definitely doing it next year and I hope you can make it!

love you Cass!! Can’t wait to do it bigger and better π
Looks like such a fun conference! If I didn’t live so far away, I’d definitely be there! I would love to put one together here in California.
It was really great! We hope to expand nationally in the future!
No apologies on the hug – it was perfect!! I was SO excited to see you too and the event was amazing!!! You ladies are truly super heroes when it comes to organizing and planning. I can’t wait until 2015 Healthy U!

Thanks so much Kat!! The countdown is ON!
It was such a fun day! I was seriously looking forward to it for a couple of months and it was just amazing. You guys did a great job. Something I also loved about it was that it was a mix of bloggers and non-bloggers – it was so interesting to hear questions from the audience members who don’t read a hundred fitness & health blogs daily.
yes, exactly Carly, I think it was super important to involve people from the community that really don’t have the time to read all the great stuff we do.
Congratulations again! I was so happy to attend and join in the activities of this great day. You are a great MC and an awesome instructor. So happy for you! Just finished writing my recap and it will be up tomorrow. I can’t believe May is almost over time flies! xoxo
Thanks Patty! We were super excited to have you! Loved your recap. π
Looks like you worked those ladies! Congrats on emcee-ing.
Thanks Stacie!
