Millennial mamas have a very unique task in raising this up and coming generation of kids. Our childhood was completely different–I tried to explain to 7 year old Josh that I spent most of my summers from sun up to sun down playing outside, he gave me a look of pure disbelief.
Since those days of my childhood don’t seem so far off, I try to make sure that the kids get to experience as much of being outdoors as possible. Last summer I spent a lot of time planning museum visits and all kinds of fun outings, I really didn’t want them to be cooped up in the house doing much of nothing.
Not to mention there is something so so special about NYC when the weather gets nice. Hanging out on our porch or having the kids draw their names on the sidewalk with chalk and create amazing memories that can’t be replaced. From going to the local park to simply walking to the grocery store, the goal is to spend a lot of time enjoying nature. My wish for my kids is to not only see the value of enjoying being outside but hopefully even passing this love of nature on to their children as well.
The temperature is finally starting to rise and the winter jackets are being shed, so why not take the children outside and garden?! Today I am giving away a Sesame Street Planter Set and I want you win! To get you inspired, I suggest you dance with the plants! 🙂
Another thing that I refuse to let go of from my childhood is quality programming. Sesame Street was pivotal for me and when I was home on maternity leave it was daily programming for myself and the kids. Sesame Street brings back fond memories and I think it’s SO cool that the show is now being featured on HBO!
Emmy Award-winning Sesame Street and HBO have joined forces to air all episodes as well as classic episodes from the last five seasons of the iconic series on HBO and HBO Latino. The new season of Sesame Street airs on Saturdays at 9 a.m. Current and past Sesame Street seasons will also air daily on HBO Family at 8 a.m., while the last five seasons will be available to stream on HBO Now, HBO Go and HBO On Demand. The new season will also include Sesame Street’s usual line-up of celeb guest stars including: Gwen Stefani, Ne-Yo, Pharrell Williams, Gina Rodriguez, and Lupita Nyong’o.
What are you going to do outdoors with your children this spring? Do you garden?
