Weekly Wednesday Workout: Plank Variations
Love it or hate it that plank is one of the most effective ab exercises out there. It works the entire core, and you can pretty much do it anywhere, while you are travelling, or even before you go to bed. I really like this video because there are some very nice variations to the plank which really set your ABS on fire!

Oh Summer, please come quickly! That beach looks fantastic.
I love especially the plank jacks because that is working your core while doing cardio and working your heart! As usual, I am going to add these to the routine to get these post baby abs back in check!
Do you do planks in your routine? Ever tried the variations?

Did the plank with the twist yesterday in Combat and doing some regular planks and side planks in about an hour for Pump, The only one I don’t think I’ve done is the jacks in plank position. It’s nice though. Planks are good for a little bedtime ab work. I love this feature btw!
Thanks Joi, any class with a plank twist is my kinda class.
I did a plank intervals challenge yesterday and it KILLEd me! I’ll be up early to film it tomorrow. I must spread the plank-pain.
I CAN’T WAIT!
Those look like a great workout! Thanks for sharing!
I am a keen planker and love side planks too:) A great workout for the upper body!
yes, the side planks are hard, but I try to do them too, I need to do them more often 🙂
my core is SHOUTING FOR THESE.
You are my hero Nellie! Planking is SO HARD! I almost killed myself trying it one time! 😉
Ha! The best thing about planking that if you do it consistently enough, you get better at it!
I just did the plank holds and then I did the donkey kicks but these other variations are great additions to add. This women is even inspiring me to go do a beach workout too!
Thanks for sharing!!!! I’m pinning this workout right now 🙂
I need for you to take a trip from BK to VA so I can have a workout partner because Lawd knows I’m incapable of getting this hype about planks without a partner. Work it out! Andrea @ http://www.be-quoted.com visting from SITS.
I haven’t ‘planked’ in a while! LOL! I’m going to share these planks with my sister, as she is working on her post baby tummy. Thanks for sharing.
I left a comment earlier, not sure what happened. I’ve been doing planks and side planks. They are hard. I’ve worked my way up to a minute. Can’t wait to start seeing results.
I think it’s altogether probable I would collapse in a heap if I tried to do a plank and twist (and possibly dislocate my hip). Who am I kidding, I couldn’t do any of them! I am totally impressed that you can do these…especically the hopping ones. Bravo!! —Lisa
i do not exercise nearly as much as i should, but when i do – i like doing planks. just the regular old plain ones. that jab looked kinda intense…would definitely have to start out with the toe tap.
I just started a new Pilates video last night, and there were so many side plank variations! It was tough, but I have that good soreness going on in my abdomen and legs today; which means it was totally worth it! (Definitely going to have to try the plank jacks sometime!)
Hi Nellie, I love to plank. Thanks for sharing the video, plank jacks are a nice addition to my plank routine. I’m currently doing a challenge where each day you build up on your planks by adding 5s, care to join me 😉
PS Loving the new blog design.
