Total body you slay me every single time
It’s been a while since I’ve been to total body class…I used to be so addicted to this class that I didn’t stop going, even when I was pregnant. I was lifting and squatting all the same.
However, when my favorite instructor left while I was on maternity leave, I found it hard to attend again (the importance of instructor chemistry and our fitness is just amazing).
I returned to class right after returning to work, however, the new instructor and I did not vibe AT ALL. What he was doing was fine except when he asked me to do a plank (3 months post my 2nd c-section) and when I refused he made a very public deal about it.
So to say I’ve been turned off from total body is an understatement.
I realized recently that I needed more lifting in my life, I lift daily but it was time to add a day solely dedicated to lifting.
Bump the cardio. (At least for a day!)
For those of you that may not know: Total Body classes use a lot of equipment including but not limited to:
- Dumb bells (several pairs 8lb, 10lb etc.)
- Body bar
- Towel (and not to wipe yourself with)
There is a warm up that usually include jumping jacks, mountain climbers and various stretching
Then the fun begins!
You will proceed to use the dumbells, step, and body bar to work every part of your body (hence the name total body) usually you do a lot of moves targeting all muscles.
My return to total body was great! A fantastic instructor to boot! Did I do every rep? NO! But My body was very grateful for the workout and my butt was severely kicked. My core needs some real work, it was my first time doing twisting planks and I was simply a mess.
Truth is, it hurt so good. Like its exactly what my body has been missing!
Have you ever taken a strength training/total body class before?
