How was your week? If you hang out with me on the Instagram or any other network–you have probably noticed that I am currently in Jamaica eating and drinking all the things at the Social Media On The Sand conference at Beaches Resort in Negril. My best friend is with me so it’s half business and half TURN UP! It’s my first time back in Jamaica since my Grandfather died 9 years ago, and even though I spent most of my childhood/teen years traveling to Jamaica to see family, it was just too hard to go back knowing that my Grandpa wasn’t there anymore. But now, I’m back and happy because I desperately needed a break from the crazy.
Last weekend I was invited to Well & Good’s 4th Annual Fitness Biathlon. What is a biathlon you ask? Basically you sign up for two intense boutique type classes and you attend them back to back. Thankfully, the studios are all pretty close to each other so traveling to each one was super easy.
Due to overwhelming demand, Well+Good has partnered with nearly 20 NYC studios in Flatiron, Chelsea & Meatpacking. Class pairings include Shadowbox & Yogamaya, Tone House & Flywheel and Barry’s Bootcamp & Swerve, to name a few. Biathlon participants are also invited to an after-party at the Dream Hotel for post-workout rejuvenation stations, beauty experiences, healthy bites, plus Well+Good giveaways.
“The Fitness Biathlon is the ultimate celebration of the fitness culture,” says Alexia Brue, Well+Good co-founder and Publisher. “It brings studios together and creates a challenging, yet approachable athletic event for the Well+Good community.”
I was originally signed up for my favorite spin studio Peloton and Aerospace — Unfortunately, I got there a bit late after the Disney Cruise Media Preview but it worked out because I ended up taking class with my favorite instructor Alex and it was SUCH a good class as usual.
When we were done, we had some awesome treats from VEGA and the swag bag was awesome–filled with really great body washes, socks, lotions and other awesome beauty products that I packed and took with me to Jamaica. It was a really great time with great people. Plus I got this AMAZING workout outfit from Sweaty Betty. Everything felt and looked great on my ride, the pants passed the squat test and the sports bra fit perfectly and held the girls together without stuffing them in!

So it’s been a while since my last marathon training update huh? Everything is actually going pretty well–I was able to complete my second 20 miles training run of the plan and it wasn’t as awful as I expected to be. The day after the fitness biathlon I challenged myself to run the last 4 bridges of the marathon.
It was COLD. The coldest it’s been all season. I put on all of my Under Armour Cold Gear, got up at 5am and set out to run at about 7am after traveling across Brooklyn. The first bridge got me over into Queens–I didn’t exactly follow the marathon route but I made my way to the next bridge which led me into Manhattan where PLENTY of other runners had the same exact idea. This proved to be super helpful because I followed a few running groups into the Bronx where the turns were plenty!
Finally I got back over to Manhattan where I ended my 12 mile run in Harlem. I felt good. Last year I was pretty shocked at how much the bridges took out of me but this year I feel way more prepared than last. I plan to run 6 miles in Jamaica for my last long-ish run before the big day.
I feel way more prepared, a lot less anxious and super ready to tackle this marathon.
