Family Forward 2016: Hurricane Hermine, Islands of Adventure & Superheroes!
This past Labor Day weekend we took our third consecutive trip to the Family Forward conference located in Universal Studios, Orlando. This trip isn’t an invite only, but it is 5 day 4 night trip that is available for influencers at an incredibly discounted rate. I thought this was going to be my third and final trip to the conference because I thought, how much more could they do?! The previous trips were SO incredible, I was worried that my boys would be over it–but the team at Family Forward managed to not only outdo themselves–but they can pretty much take my money for next year as well!
In the days prior to the trip I was CRAZY nervous and worried while watching the weather forecast. A hurricane was schedule to slam into Florida on the same day we were traveling down. At the very last minute the storm system turned north and we were out of harms way!
One of the best parts of the Family Forward conference is getting to know other influencers and their families. During the conference we played lots of games including Family Bingo where we went around and asked questions to random families. It was fun, especially for my 7 year old Josh, who really got a kick out of chatting with a lot of different people. Plus, a ton of characters came to greet us in the conference room!
Islands Of Adventure & A Tornado Scare
A perk of the Family forward conference is that we get exclusive access to rides and entire parks for portions of our trip. The opening night we got to visit Islands of Adventure at night where conference attendees got to ride the new and improved Hulk Ride, Spiderman, and pretty much any ride in the Islands Of Adventure park! Not to mention there was a dessert party too!
Our favorite superheroes were all around and the kids were CRAZY excited to see them!
We were able get on a ton of rides, but just that quickly we were sequestered for a possible tornado warning in the area. All of the rides were immediately shut down and everyone was sequestered in a safe space right away. I was impressed with the quickness, ease and professionalism of the whole situation. We spent about 30 minutes in the spiderman gift shop until the tornado warning passed!
Cabana Bay Beach Resort
The next day we had a pool party to attend! We were provided with plenty of food vouchers for the delicious and incredibly expansive menu at the Bayliner Diner. For the first time in a long time I actually got in the pool with kids and simply had a blast chasing them around the lazy pool.
I am so happy I decided to get in the water with them because they were both so happy to have me chase them around the 3ft pool. I’m usually THAT mom that shows up poolside in her jeans and watches her kids play so I’m happy I took a conscious dip. 🙂
Stay tuned for part 2 where we get an upgraded version of the VIP Tours, the coolest ride I’ve ever ridden–hint, it’s brand new!–and dinner at a spanking new restaurant on CityWalk!A Hurricane, #Adventure and #Superheroes! Part 1 of our #FamilyForward trip! #universalmomentsClick To Tweet
