Test Driving The Tesla S Model at the Consumer Reports Test Track!
Last weekend I did something I pretty much never ever do.
I went to Connecticut.
Don’t worry though, it was all for fun! I went to view a live recording of the Talking Cars Podcast a super popular podcast powered by Consumer Reports. It was the milestone 100th Episode and they were celebrating with super knowledgable car fans, media and guests!
Did you know that Consumer Reports is actually a non profit organization? I had no clue! They test lots of different devices and products on the market from a completely objectionable point of view. Today however, we are talking cars!
Talking Cars 100th Podcast Live Recording
I was really excited to hear the podcast live, this wasn’t my first live podcast taping, but still super excited nonetheless. The panelists were car experts Jennifer Stockburger, Jake Fisher, Tom Mutchler, and Jon Linkov. I was mainly excited to learn about all of the new technology and the future of cars and manufacturing. There was a lot of talk about whether or not all of these new fancy features on cars like cameras, beeping when you get too close to something are more annoying than actually being helpful. The panelists compared their favorite cars, and shared the cars that they disliked the least.
One thing that they mentioned that I absolutely loved was that they do not accept any trips, gifts or ANYTHING from any car makers. Their highly detailed reviews are independent and really only has the consumer in mind when doing the reviews.
Members from the audience also asked some great questions, they were extremely knowledgable about cars–we talked about everything from whether or not automatic drive would no longer exist to why is it necessary to have a dashboard with a velvet feel. It was super informative and I really learned a ton!
Tesla S Model Test Drive
I’ve heard here and there about this Tesla S Model but nothing could really compare to seeing it live in person. It was SO gorgeous. The fact that it is an electric car is absolutely mind blowing. Apparently it takes less than 5 hours to charge and all of “handling” happens on a tablet like dashboard.
We had one of the panelists/experts, and 16 year vet of Consumer Reports Jennifer Stockburger take us for a ride out on the beautiful test track that used to be a drag strip back in the day!
As you can see, we went over 100mph very easily and incredibly smoothly. I am not a huge car fan but I am of THIS car. It is just SO gorgeous and smooth and SMART. I never thought there would be a car that would make me care, but this one absolutely grabbed my heart!
Car Seat Safety
Consumer Reports also tests car seats, infant seats and booster seats for safety and durability. They test all the car seats that come on the market and do independent reviews for vehicle latch, crash protection, ease of use and more. Once again, the reviews are independent so they are an invaluable resource for all moms when looking to make sure they have the BEST car seat option for their children!
Thank you to the awesome team at Consumer Reports for the fun trip!
