Aqua Zumba Review
My girl Kia and I are huge Urban Girl Squad fans. The UGS brings together professional women in their 20s and 30s for fun events that range from wine tasting parties, to uh–adult education parties, to boxing, running, you name it! You may remember the fun networking event that I attended last year.
She got us tickets to Aqua Zumba, and I was excited *because it was Zumba*, and I really like the pool. I don’t swim. At all. But being in the water is fun!
We grabbed dinner, then headed over to the gym. When we arrived we met Edmee, our instructor. She gave us a big warm smile and welcomed us. Zumba pro skills were definitely present here. I introduced myself, and it turns out we have my Zumba mentor in common. Loved that.
Kia and I changed into our swimsuits and I gotta admit, I want to look better in it, but that is what all the hard work is for right?
We all got in the pool and I was a little nervous because I didn’t want to be in the deep end, you know being that I can’t swim and all.
We were told to get in the water up to our chest. She was directly in front of us and she had the song I currently use in my Zumba class–Wake Me Up by Avicii
After that I knew I would be in good hands.
The movements were very big and very intentional. It’s a ton of upper body but the lower half gets work too. I only wish I had swim shoes on to get a better grip of the floor (I was slipping a lot!)
We went through 7 songs, some high intensity and some low. It was over before we knew it and we cooled down. It was my second workout of the day (earlier I did boxing) but I still felt the satisfaction of a good workout. It wasn’t until much later on that I realized I could have brought my polar in the water with me! Oh well. I was able to catch my girl Edmee for a pic
This was another fantastic event held by the Urban Girl Squad. We even got a free class as a gift! I can’t wait to go back.
