A Little Bit Extra This Holiday Season #MoreIsBetter

During the holidays, we all tend to get stressed and burnt out from the craziness of the season. The gift buying and giving, decorating, holiday parties, travelling, family visits–it can all get so incredibly hectic!

So I thought to myself, “Self,  what would make this holiday season a bit easier to manage?” the answer was a little bit more of the good stuff. The things that make Christmas wonderful. If I had the choice I would request 25% more of the following:

Gift unveiling: Now that my boys are almost 2 and 5, witnessing them rip open their Christmas gifts is something I look forward to every single year. The squeals, the contagious excitement, the ripped Christmas paper everywhere, and of course the most important question of all: What toy shall we play with first?

It almost seems as if the moment ends so quickly! I could live in that gift opening happy place forever and ever.

Christmas Carols: Living in Brooklyn I generally don’t have carolers come to my front door singing songs of the season (when did that go out of style, does this happen in YOUR neighborhood?! I’ve only seen it in the movies!). So I usually have to find my own resources to get me in the Christmas mood! I hear my favorite hymns in church but I need a little more time to enjoy the holiday classics during the holiday season. I always listen to the soundtrack for my favorite Christmas movie EVER (!!) “The Preacher’s Wife” year round but during the holidays it is extra special.

Patience & Creativity: I wish I had that magical power where I could look at someone and POOF! the perfect gift will appear in my minds eye and I will be forever known as the best gift giver ever. (Someone always holds this title!) Unfortunately I am quite the opposite. Even down to my husband who I have been with for almost 16 years, I still struggle with his gift! Not to mention, everytime I go to look for people, I magically find things that would be PERFECT Christmas gifts for myself!

It’s simple – more is better! Having 25 percent more this holiday season would make things a ton easier! :)

  1. Totally heading over and thanks for sharing. Seriously though, I live on Long Island and never see anyone Christmas Carol. Do people do that anymore? Because seriously never remember seeing anyone carol even when I lived in Queens. And patience, so in need more of that right now, too! Have a great weekend now, Nellie!! :)

We do have carolers in this town but I think you have to go to find them. They won’t show up on your doorstep.

  5. We don’t see carolers either and we live in the country.

Watching the kids open presents is so fun! My grandkids get so focused when they find a favorite present though that it’s hard to get them to remember to keep going!

  6. I would certainly take more cash, but what I would also like is more time! I enjoy the kids opening the presents too, but since my youngest found his stash, and unwrapped and rewrapped, I don’t think there are going to be any surprises for him. I don’t have the patience to take everything back and start over!

  7. This post had me smiling! I am the same way, with gifts. I am horrible at getting other people. Including my hubby. I’ve had a lucky break here or there, but I’m usually off the mark.
