Yes, I had a bit of nerves but definitely not what I expected. It was crazy cold, and remarkably early for a Saturday and of course I got a bit lost smh.
I didn’t realize that I would be headed to one of the worst hit Sandy areas, the heart of Coney Island.
The facility was right on the boardwalk and FEMA had set up headquarters in the building…it was sobering to see folks lined up at the Red Cross mobile truck for assistance.
When I entered I was ushered to the gym in the back where Nicki minaj was blaring through the speakers…yup I was definitely in the right place!
What surprised me was the amount of folks in the room, there was barely any room left! Somehow we made it work.
We got into some talking then we went straight into the master class–I’m pretty sure there is nothing more fun than dancing with 100 other folks that LOVE Zumba as much as I do.
Pre Master class obligatory bathroom mirror shot:
After that I was completely soaked so we went to the lockers rooms to regroup change and learn the business side of Zumba.

Mid Day Snacks:
Our instructor Janie was completely awesome and I kinda wanna be her bestie.
After lunch we got right back which was interesting dancing 5 minutes after eating 🙂
We learned about Salsa, Cumbia, Bachata & Reggaeton.
By the end I was super equipped and excited to be a licensed Zumba Instructor.
I will continue to listen to salsa 24/7 (because salsa is the best music EVER) and choreograph. I will keep my eyes peeled for any weekend openings and I will continue to learn and practice, practice, practice.
Cross that one off my bucket list. Pow.
