Ready For Surgery! Sort of.

Hey Everyone!

I am going to have surgery in a few days to meet my second baby boy.
Although, when I started out I originally wanted a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After C-Section) but other circumstances led me to the decision to have a repeat c-section.
I was secretly kind of hoping that my water would break (still could happen) before my scheduled surgery date, and I’d try for a VBAC that way. But that option isn’t looking very good as my cervix is long and closed (according to my doc) Apparently my babies like to stay in forever, I can’t blame them, its nice and warm and cozy in there!
So now that I have had about 2 weeks to contemplate going under the knife, I’ve done everything I can to prepare!
  • Almost done with the baby’s room
  • Bought new nipples/drop ins for baby’s bottle
  • Prepared (still preparing) food for the first weeks to be frozen
  • Stocked up on the little things (toilet paper, dishwashing liquid, bath soap)
  • New bassinet is set up on the first floor and stocked with diapers and wipes
and more…
As I get closer to this, I get super excited, to meet him! My “ninjababy” as I so lovingly call him because he moves around so so so much, where my belly often looks like he is doing his own version of karate in there!
But also, I begin to remember the recovery from the last one, the swelling, the gingerly walking, the feeling of helplessness caring for a newborn…
I know this time will be different. I have more help, My hubby won’t be going to work the day after I arrive home, my mom will be off for a week, and I know how to try to make myself heal faster.
I say all this to say…
I know I will be fine, thanks to God’s grace and the love and support of my family.
However, the waiting game has got me a lil crazy. I find myself on my downtime “googling” which is terrible because you get the absolute worst of what can happen. Why do we torture ourselves so?
Well, at least my toes and my hair will be fresh for the big day! Last time, I labored for 22 hours and EVERYONE and their mama came to see me look a :)
I know this post is all over the place, but thank you kindly for reading anyway!

I pray for a safe delivery. Can’t wait for the updates once the baby arrives. Are you excited to be having a baby around Christmas time? Both my girls were born right after Christmas so December is a special month for me. Good luck and take care!
