Product was provided for review by Best Buy but no other compensation was receivedWith the cold weather approaching I was super excited to get the chance to review the new NEST thermostat from Best Buy!
Unfortunately because my home was built in the 1700s (okay 1920) I couldn’t install the device with my elderly heating system. However, since my mom has a nice and new house I was able to give it to her to try and let me tell you guys how cool it is!
First, the Nest thermostat is super fancy. It allows you to manage the temperature of your home from anywhere which has saved an average of 10-12% on heating bills and 15% on cooling bills. The Nest thermostat actually lets you control the temperature of your home from a handy app. I know personally sometimes when I get home from work I hate having to wait for the heat to come up, or realizing that it was going to be hotter that you thought and you left the heat ALL the way on before you left the house.
It’s really great for when you go on vacation too, for example if you head out for a week and left the heat on by accident, instead of losing all that money on the gas bill you can turn the heat off and start it back up when you land at your home airport.
There are other great features like the Nest Leaf, that appears when you start saving energy. Or even the safety features that alert you when the house is getting too hot or too cold–and my favorite, the auto schedule feature that allows you to set your perfect temp and forget it.

To help facilitate the new Nest thermostat, Best Buy also sent me a new high tech router with a super strong signal and features. This router was right on time because I didn’t realize but I’d had the same router for a full 7 years! This one was definitely way more powerful than the one I used to have!
I was able to set up the wifi fairly easily and get online with a brand new network in minutes. The security features are fantastic and we now have super strong wifi in those “dead zones” we had all over the house.
