Friday Fitness Check In: Bootcamp Suggestions and a Holiday Burn

With the upcoming holidays I got the brilliant idea to host a turkey Zumba. What is a turkey Zumba? Glad you asked because I completely made this one up! Tomorrow morning I will be teaching my usual Zumba class except I am adding a nice 30 minute boot camp at the end to hopefully do a nice pretty burn for all the upcoming Thanksgiving calories!

I have invited pretty much everyone that actually likes to exercise so I expect it to be a lot of fun. The playlist is so ready,  there is salsa, merengue, soca, African, Brazilian and of course a little Britney Spears. I’m hype!

Here is what I had on deck for boot camp (for those of you that are attending you get a sneak peek!)

1 minute intervals
Jumping jacks
Walking push up
Single leg lunge (30 seconds each leg)
1 minute rest
Repeat 3x.
Scissor legs
Leg swings
1 Minute Rest
Repeat 2x
Plank one minute
Toe Touches
1 Minute Rest
Repeat 2x

My week this week was fantastic, it was another week of hard discipline and good eating. I didn’t have not one over calorie day which was awesome! I am just a creature of habit when it comes to food. I always eat the same things and I never have the need to switch things up. Since everything I am eating is within my calorie range, it is working.

Also, its been a while since I’ve eaten crap, so i’m excited about that. There is a certain detox that people go through when they are not eating the same foods anymore and I really think I have finally passed that stage of wanting and needing crappy foods. Don’t get me wrong, I have cravings–especially when I am hungry–but to see the amazing progress that has happened in 7 weeks? That is seriously something I can’t ignore!

I have a pair of black work pants that I used to try on every single week to check my progress. It came to a point where I was just TIRED of feeling the same squeeze, the same failing to fit. I wore those pants this week–comfortably. When I showed them to my hubby he had no clue why they made me so happy, but man, what a sweet victory.

I was able to drop another 1.4 pounds this week, which is fantastic and seriously so motivating. Considering that AF came and left and I still managed to lose? That has NEVER happened before! I am happy for small losses and for big ones, considering that I am so used to losing a very small amount then waiting WEEKS for for another loss (if I’m lucky). I totally see the light at the end of the tunnel and I there is absolutely nothing stopping me from getting there.

What do you think of my mini boot camp? Changes? Additions? Are you working out harder this week because of Thanksgiving?

Are you a creature of habit when it comes to eating or do you like lots of different foods everyday?

It’s your turn to check in! How was your fitness/eating this week?

  1. I love your flyer!! I think the Turkey Zumba is an inspired idea! I bet it will be wildly popular! Who doesn’t need this?!?! Congrats on the black work pants. There is nothing better than that feeling! I have a pair of pants I do the same thing with! For me at first they could not be buttoned. Now they fit and can be buttoned, but I still feel they are a bit tight. I cannot wait until I slip them on and they fit will. I’m so excited for you!! That is SQUEE worthy!! And another 1.4 pounds!! FANTASTIC!! The recent changes you’ve made are paying off!! WOO HOO!! Beast Mode On FOR SURE!!! I’m so proud of you!! You go, girl! You’re unstoppable!! –Lisa

  6. GURL! I am so happy for you! I literally got a weeee bit teary eyed. I know it takes a lot of HARD work and determination to stay so consistant. You motivate me SO much.

Oh… and I scrolled right past your bootcamp. I don’t want to make myself nervous… still hoping I can score a quiet spot in the back of the room where I can hide and cry softly as my whole body starts to burn.

  7. Ma’am what’s a scissors and it sounds uncomfortable I think I will continue to save for my fake booty cause I can’t. I lost 2 lbs its probably because I have not bought any food saving up my coins for next week.

  8. Turkey Zumba sound like a fabulous idea!!. Congrats on your progress. Consistency does pay off. I pretty much eat the same things too, but I still have a few adjustments to make by getting rid of a few. I have a 5K scheduled this Sunday and a half marathon the Sunday after Thanksgiving. So as much as I’d like to gorge on Thanksgiving, I can’t because it will affect my performance. I’m gonna save some food till after my half

    • Yes, I am really learning the consistency rule!! I hope your 5k went well, and I totally understand about not gorging for TG you want to be a light as possible for your half!! Leftover taste better anyway :)

  9. Hooray for your sweet victory!! I’m not a creature of habit so much. I’d love to eat more of a variety and I get sick of foods very easily. I think I had a healthy week because I ate more kale, beets, sweet potatoes, and carrots than ever! My husband makes these giant batches of veggie stew. So healthy. I even exercised a lot this week!!

  14. CONGRATS on your weight loss! You’re doing a fantastic job. I’m so jealous that you’ve gotten past the point of feeling a “need” for all the crap. I’m nowhere there. (but working on it!) I love the idea of your mini boot camp. It looks like it was probably a great workout. Don’t forget to tell us all how it went!

    • Thanks Leslie! Trust me there was a detox period of 3-4 weeks that I literally felt like I was going out of my mind without it. I think having a routine helped a lot, the body adapts eventually, you just gotta force it to :)
