Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day of Play

When I first saw the advertising for Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day Of Play that was going to be happening in my own borough, I was intrigued. I mean, my 4 year old was going to LOVE this, it was  no brainer to go!

I logged on to get tickets for the event a few days after registration opened. It was sold out.

It’s Prospect Park, one of the biggest parks probably in the world. How on earth was it sold out?! I was bummed but I signed up for the email list because I simply couldn’t believe the event was so popular!

Finally, I got an email saying more tickets are available at 6pm. I logged on 6:05pm, sold out!

Hunger Games people!!

Finally the night before they released more tickets. I sat there at 5:55 and got my tickets at 6:00pm on the dot.

We arrived a bit late because I had to teach class, and of course, we ran out of pampers right before we left.

When we arrived there were so.many.people!! I heard an estimated 35k people was at this event!! (And I was struggling for 4 measly tickets o_0)

When we got inside the event the first person we saw was Diego. Big boy was too excited to see him!!

Next we went over to do some Zumba where my favorite Zumba instructor/friend/mentor was doing a set for the kids! She was pretty awesome, but the boy wanted no parts. (Meanwhile when I practice at home he can’t stop dancing!!)

We went over to a mini touch museum for the kids and then he got on a ride when he had a blast just being spun around.

Next we went over to a play area where there where these huge chess pieces! The baby was happy to be a part of this action!

Around that time is when the concert started. Ariana Grande and Big Time Rush were the headliners but since none of us knew them we headed back to the play areas.

We saw the ASPCA dog and Dora. We also did some obstacle courses a million times.

After all of that we were tired, and hungry, so we made our way out to get some grub.

They day was great, I know better for next time to get tickets early!

Have you ever attended a world wide day of play? When was the last time you went to a park event?

  6. I cannot believe what you went through to get tickets! And what a crowd. Looks like great weather, though! Unlike yesterday when it poured on us at our harvest festival. Boo.
I haven’t done this yet, but I know Scarlet would love it.

  8. This looks like a lot of fun. I love Nickelodeon! I can’t believe how fast the tickets were selling out! I’m glad you all got a chance to go. Zumba for kids I”m sure was a hit. We had a few Sha’bam for the kids events and they went over really well! I don’t have a reason to attend one of these just yet, so no, but I’m totally looking forward to it one day.

OAN – I love how you keep BAM balanced! You are THE most traveled blog event blogger that I follow. I loved hearing about all the events, but you make sure to share with us the family outings, date nights, the most important stuff regularly too. You are an awesome role-model! A little intimidating my friend, lol! How do you do it all???

  10. Looks like such a fun day. You did good with documenting things. Your 4-year old was definitely into everything. It’s funny how the baby (who looks like a big boy now by the way) did not seem interested, he was always looking away in the family pic :).

I really love the pic of you and your big boy. Gosh he is so big and looks so happy.

This is totally my kind of fun day. Get tickets earlier next time.
