Fashion Forward Conference 2013 Recap
For the second year in a row, the wonderful Audrey, Vera, and Nicole organized a conference for mom bloggers with a love for fashion. I was so excited to attend because ever since I met Nicole at the Back To School event a couple of months ago, I knew I was in good company.
I took the day off from work got up a whole hour later (this to me is sleeping in folks…) and made my way down to 404 NYC on the west side of Midtown. It was an insanely hot and humid day in the city, it was around 95 degrees with humidity that was off the charts!!
When I arrived I saw a lot of familiar faces, the new york blogger scene is REAL! But I also met and found new bloggers as well. Since I had a whole hour before the program started, I decided to see some of the fab sponsors.
First I met with Happy Family which has a full line of totally organic kid foods for both babies and preschoolers alike. I had the opportunity to sample some of the snacks and let me tell you, they were delicious. Is it weird that I might just get some for myself?!
Next I went over to New Balance and checked out their shoe line and I was so happy to see the neon trend is still very much in style!
Next I mosied my way over to keepy which is an ah-maz-ing app that keeps all of your kids’ artwork and pictures. Everything is stored on the cloud and you can even record messages of them explaining what the artwork is. Since I love keepsakes, (just not all over my house) I will definitely be checking this app out! They also had the most adorable rice krispie treats at their table!
At the GM booth there were a bunch of different photo accessories for picture taking, I also got a really cool travel mug
I also went to visit Nerium which has a really great anti aging cream, they gave us a free sample and I have been using it every night and my face is tighter and younger looking, it really is a miracle serum!
So remember that time when we talked about how non crafty I was? I think I may have found the answer! Kiwi crate is a subscription box service of crafts for any aged child! It comes with full directions and all the materials you need!
One of the highlights of my day was visiting with Coldwater Creek! I have never tried their jeans on before but goodness they are comfy!! I tried on a purple pair and the size smaller than normal fit perfectly! They are going to send me this pair in the mail, how cool is that?!
Finally it was time for the program to start, we had some amazing panelists talking about everything from bloggers and brands to latest trends in fashion (which is apparently a motorcycle jacket). What I loved about the sessions was that all of the questions were directly related to bloggers: what do you want from bloggers? how do you find bloggers to work with? etc.
After that we had a kids fashion show and well…I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
We had a completely and utterly delish lunch and it was finally time for Rosie Pope!
I love love love Rosie Pope’s maternity line, I was quite obsessed when I was pregnant that I almost went to a sample sale, 8 months pregnant–in a snowstorm. Exactly.
She was soo real up there! She talked about balancing life, work, babies and “having it all”. She touched briefly on the clear divider in the mommy community between working women and SAHM’s. And she feels the same way I do, she said that we all have a story, no one story is “more important” no one is “supermom” we all love our children so we need to support one another. (Love her even more now!!)
After that there was another session on blogging but unfortunately I had to miss half of it because I had to go into Hair and Makeup for my Runway appearance! A separate post on this is coming because I stepped wayyyy out of my comfort zone with that one!!
