And she is back at em again ladies and gents.
Not only did I have a rockstar day, but I got a couple of tidbits of motivation that I wasn’t even looking for…
I was pretty determined to workout yesterday, I was not feeling half as bad as Monday, and the day was going pretty smoothly with the exception of a very ugly commute into the city.
As I got onto the treadmill, one of my trainers, the one that I adore/abhor, came to keep me company while I did some walking. He shared with me that he was getting frustrated with his total body class (my favorite class).
I asked him why, was it the hours? The day? The pay?
He said no, he was upset because the people were not progressing.
That was left field!
He explained to me that he comes to WORK. It pretty much frustrates him when he has women in class lifting weights that are “the same weight of their purses”. Ouch.
I admit, he got a new level of respect from me. I had no idea that he had such passion for us! I guess some fitness teachers are that way, they just don’t show up to do their job and keep it moving, they actually care about progression! Who knew. Here I was thinking that fitness trainers showed up, taught you *how* to do things and it was up to YOU to progress.
He said what impressed him the most was the chicks who come to class that started with 5lb weights and progressed to be the “baddest b*tch in the room” lifting 24lbs. THAT was why he continued to be a fitness instructor.
He didn’t have to say it, but that was ME! Last year, I started his class with a 9lb body bar and 2 5lb weights. In April I was lifting 25lbs on the body bar, and I used 8, 10, and 12lb weights. My progression in his class was partly due to him demanding that upgrade, but also, the confidence I gained when the lighter weights were no longer challenging.
So that was my little motivation of the day, the fact that this crazy man respects my gangsta (woot) and the will and determination to want to get there again, fast. I want my crown back.
He also reassured me that he WILL kick my butt into back shape, he “invested” too much time in me, to just let it all go to waste.
Pretty proud of what I did …
