So Ms. Big Belly (me) is back in total body class. It’s a miracle!
A little history:
Ever have that one class that you hatehatehate, but love at the same time because it gives you amazing results? Well, that class is total body for me! This is a lot of insane plyometrics, and advanced weight training. I never knew I could actually lift 24lb body bars with ease until I began taking this class. This class is probably THE most popular class at my gym, and the instructor…well…he is a very very good trash talker. I consider myself the queen of smack talk myself so it is never a dull class!!
Even though it’s one of my toughest classes, I miss it. Simply because it hurts so goooood! I feel incredibly strong in that class, and my instructor, as annoying as he is, pushes me further and further so I never ever stall or get bored in a routine.
Since this is the first pregnancy where I am actually working out throughout, I tend to err on the side of caution when it comes to exercising. I figured, somewhere in my head, at six months I’d stop going to total body and walk on the treadmill and keep it nice and safe. I hadn’t been to class in about 7 weeks.
Even though I am super round, achy, and yes super round, my instructor saw me and the bestie today and pretty much demanded that I go despite my protests that I “can’t” do anything.
He was right!
Class was awesome, I did dead lifts, lunges, squats, a little bit of pushups, lots of bicep curls and so much more! I mean my quads are going to h-u-r-t in the morning but it’s all good, it was a fantastic workout. (please don’t tell my instructor that, I’ll never ever give him the glory!)
I gotta say, after having not so nice feeling days, today was a good one. Just holding the body bar made me feel normal again.
I even have another regular who is preggo like me (a certified personal trainer), and she taught ME tips on how to weight lift in modified ways. Score!
My confidence in my body is back, and I learned a lesson never to count myself out even before I give myself a chance…Let’s just see where the workout journey goes!
