Tips and Tricks for Traveling with Kids #TrendyTravel

This is an interesting quote from

Traveling has never been easy for us. I’m not even talking about airplanes and long road trips, I am talking about simply getting  to the other side of Brooklyn. I have never been able to figure how how to manage two kids (and a husband) , individually I can take one somewhere and we make it work, when all four of us are together however, it’s a totally different story.

I was excited to learn some amazing tips at the Momtrends #traveltrendy event last week and of course because I love to play nice in the sandbox, I am going  to share them all with you today!

Swim Gear

Remember when I shared about my never ending battle with the two piece? I haven’t gotten it yet but at the event I was introduced to a wonderful brand called Miraclesuit. They have swimsuits that slim you down 10lbs instantly. I was a little skeptical about all of this until they had me try one on. I became a believer, I could believe how much it sucked me in every which way! The best part though was it was comfortable. I didn’t feel like it was grabbing at me, it just felt like it was made for my body and it’s a good thing because they gifted it to me!

Travel tips

As I mentioned earlier, the mere thought of traveling with both children gives me the heebie jeebies. I did it once before 2 years ago when we went to Disney and although they had fun, I left quite frazzled and overwhelmed. We will be making the trek to Orlando again this year but at least I will have a lot of blogger friends and their families with us with lots of activities and such.

We had the opportunity to hear from Luxury Travel Mom about ways to travel with your family and not lose your mind and as a travel guru, she was able to share some fun tips (and stories!) to help make our travel lives easier as moms.

  • Don’t try Orbitz or Expedia for deals
  • Get a travel agent so that they can help you create your perfect trip
  • Try group tours! (she always thought they were for old people but she realized that they are for everyone! She had a fantastic group tour in Cuba)
  • Benefits of group tours include: not having to talk to your family only, and you make great friends with your group mates
  • Group tours are stress free: you don’t have to worry about booking rental cars, hotels, airfare, excursions–then trying to remember when and where everything is booked. Most times they provide a full itinerary so that you can have everything in one place.

Britax + A Big Win!

Next we were introduced to Britax that had so many great things to assist with travel. They had their BOB Revolution PRO jogging stroller on display which folds crazy quickly and is very light. The also had a device called the Car Seat Travel Cart to assist with travelling with your car seat so that you don’t have to lug that and your kids around… You can just put the kid in the car seat and roll them along in the terminal. Genius!

Can you believe I won this stroller? Do you know how many events I have been to where I haven’t won a THING and I win the prize of all prizes? Amazing! I was so excited!! Don’t ask me what was going on with my necklace–I can only assume this might have happened during the trying on of the miraclesuit!

Next we had the Paddle paks, these were so insanely cute and perfect little bags for your little ones if they plan on being anywhere near water this summer. They come in bright beautiful colors and designs. The kids can carry all of their beach items in it and it’s a great place for kids to store their wet bathing suit and towels as well.

While I was there I was also able to taste the best ice cream in the world. More on that to come (stay tuned!).

I definitely left the event more inspired to travel with the kids, and just travel in general!

What are your travel plans for the summer? Do you have any tips for traveling with kids?

  3. Sounds like a really cool event, Nellie. I have tried on MiracleSuits before…I wanted one for my problem area, but while it looked good there, it did not fit me in other places. :( I still am hoping someday to find one that fits right…it is such a great concept! Congrats on winning an awesome prize…how cool is that?!

  5. Good ice cream, free swimsuit and a won stroller! You just described my perfect day.
That ice cream – please..tell me when there will be more about that. I love homemade ice cream. I can’t stand the 37 ingredients they have at the store sometimes. Terrible.
Anyway, traveling with kids. The biggest tip I’ve ever used and it’s worked is to always have snacks. And really fun snacks for plane rides, car rides and theme parks.

  6. I have to say I love the wet gear/swim bags – I may have to check them out for Spain, although space will be limited! I’m planning on bringing lots of screens for the boys. I know that’s not the best answer but hey, when you’re on a plane for 9 hours – there MUST be movies and games!
Congrats on the stroller win!! That is way cool mama!

  9. The stroller…still in awe! That’s a fab win! I really like the PaddlePak. I’m going to check those out and see about getting some for the kids. With my move moving close to me we’ll have reason to go to the pool with the kids often.

  10. Sweet! Congrats on winning that awesome stroller! I don’t travel with these kids as often as I would like. It is just something that just makes me crazy! To be honest, I’m one of those moms that just holds the baby the whole time. It just seems less crazy for me.

  11. I had to giggle about your comment that traveling to the other side of Brooklyn is a feat on it’s own – and I totally get it! These sound like some great products. I especially like the splash sack…though a plastic ziplock bag would probably work just as well. My biggest tip for travel – avoid flying if you can. If you can’t, have a taxi take you to the airport. One of our neighbors is a taxi driver and he always takes us to the airport when we travel together. If we’re renting carseats/boosters, he’ll store ours until we get back. It usually doesn’t cost much more than parking, and we don’t have to worry about lugging all of our stuff in addition to the two kids.
