Three Day Weekend? Yes Please!!

I’m pretty sure no one gets more excited about Memorial Day Weekend than I am.

I mean, in my first holiday since returning from Maternity leave, the weather is nice and I got a whole day to myself, a THREE day weekend is clearly one of best inventions known to man.

Thank you Memorial Day.

Thank you troops. I appreciate your service hard work and I honor you on this day.

I unlike most didn’t have many parties to go to this weekend, I spent all of Saturday on the inside baking and watching “the Vow”. Since this is a baby filled house, we hardly got through it without being interrupted but I thought it was an OKAY movie. I don’t know why I thought it would be much better, I get that it was based on a true story, but for a gal who NEVER gets to watch movies…ever…I think I deserved a better ending! As a matter a fact, I was pretty depressed for most of it. Channing Tatum however, made it much easier to drool get through. I am a huge Rachel McAdams fan as well. Was it worth the $4.95 rental fee? Eh.

Instead of doing crucial projects that NEED to be done in my house before the big Christening event, what was I doing for most of the weekend? BAKING. Oh yes. I have been baking like no tomorrow. Sometime I wish I lived in the south and not the concrete jungle, I would bring cupcakes to all of my neighbors! But since I don’t have super friendly neighbors yet, I will just be content with sending them to my hubby’s job and my own. If I had some sort of OUTLET I’d do some serious baking. I suppose it’s a good thing I don’t. I’d get nothing done. Winking smile

Every week I bake two cupcakes, this week because I was so full of love and extra time I did three:

Saturday I did two:

The first was one was a Vanilla Cupcake with Jelly Filling and a Chocolate glaze on top:

The second was a Devil’s Food Cupcake with a cream cheese filling topped with vanilla buttercream and small white round sprinkles:

Sunday’s Cupcake was a last minute decision, the baking bug usually leaves after 2 cupcakes but it was still here and I decided to take some to a bbq I was attending later on…

This one is a chocolate cupcake with caramel frosting and more caramel drizzled on top. I made mini’s for these, (somehow people feel less guilty about these!)

I am not going to bring up the fact that I packed away 12 cupcakes beautifully in a box to take to the bbq and my three year old picked up the box, shook it around and used it as a toy while I was washing dishes. The cupcakes were ruined and looked a lil something like this:

I officially launched the business to my facebook friends and they have been overwhelmingly supportive already throwing business my way and figuring out how or who are having events that I can bake for. Since I don’t have the moolah to spend for a fancy blog/website design just yet, I have set up a facebook page and if you could give me a “like” that would be amazing!

Sunday’s BBQ was nice, it was close friends and family so of course we talked argued and laughed over politics, our crazy city and everything in between. I even took a picture with the baby Smile

Isn’t he the cutest ever? Everyone was fawning all over him, he was nothing but smiles all night. As you can see!

Did you guys do anything awesome this three day weekend? I’d love to hear about it!

  9. Yeah… it was very eh.

  10. thank you :)

  11. Oh my goodness! I have been dying to see the movie for the past few days and haven't gotten around to it. But I think I will give it a shot now that I know that the bf doesn't mind watching a chick flick. Secondly, every time I see these cupcakes, my mouth waters. I am ashamed of my lack of cooking/baking skill. On the other hand, you are making me wanna start.

The cupcakes looks great. This weekend, we took it easy. No BBQ but went AC shopping for the living room. Well worth the trip.
