Toothbrushing

A few weeks ago I shared the importance of keeping up with your pediatric dentist appointments in my interview with Parenting expert Rosie Pope. As parents we have the responsibility to make even the mundane things fun, one of those mundane things that we all have to do is brush our teeth!

Oral-B has come out with some new products to help us do just that! Brushing teeth time with the kids has always been easy. With my eldest we started brushing his teeth as soon as we saw two pop out. He really loved it–however I am not sure if he really loved the teeth brushing so much as he loved the taste of the toothpaste–but I digress. The baby also LOVES to brush his teeth simply because he sees his big brother do it, and he pretty much does every single thing his Big Brother does!

Did you know that dentists recommend that kids brush their teeth for at least two minutes? With kids this can be so hard to get them to do one thing for a whole two minutes. Usually after 30 seconds they are on to the next thing! So Disney, Oral B and crest have created a free app called the Disney Magic Timer App to make the 2 minutes breeze by!

As you already know we are huge Disney fans, when the baby turned two we celebrated with Disney and when big boy turned 5 a few weeks ago we showed our #disneyside. So when I showed the boys their new toothbrushes to say they were excited is SUCH an understatement!

The big boy got a toothbrush with CARS on it (remember he had that birthday theme when he turned 3?) and the baby got Winnie the Pooh. They both got Crest Super Heroes Toothpaste and they were so excited, because of course they are beyond obsessed with super heroes! :) We played the app and for two minutes they brushed their teeth and when it was done they wanted to watch it over and over again! The app is a really cool way to keep them distracted while they brush.

I actually did an interview with them to talk about how much they loved their new toothbrushes–this wasn’t the easiest thing to do AT ALL–how do these child actors do it?!

The toothbrushes are pretty awesome too, both brushes have this really cool detail on the front and back that help the kids to grip better. So much more cooler than the regular ones they had prior.

Brushing is now that much more fun in our household!

  2. First of all this app is going to be PERFECT for my boys! They brush their teeth in about two seconds flat and I always have to make them go longer, or worse, I end up brushing for them and they are too old for that!! Second, your sons are so adorable!!! I loved the video and my boys do the exact same thing!! They always want to see themselves immediately. It’s so funny how kids are all the same. Love that. Can’t wait to use this this morning!
