Spring is here!!
To say winter was hard seems like an incredible understatement. Exhausting. I think that is the correct word. I’m still not sure which is worse, back to back snow storms or walking around and waiting for my bus in -3 degree weather. It’s a close call! Either way I am very happy to see winter go!
With all of that said, today is the first day of spring! Yes, despite the still frigid temps, according to our calendar today is a day to be happy–old man winter be gone!
Like most Spring is my favorite season, it generally signifies new beginnings, warmer weather, beautiful flowers and more time spent outdoors instead of
hiding from the snow being a house hermit.
Spring makes me happy! Why not celebrate by doing something that makes you happy today?
Last week I attended a fun event around Union Square that encouraged us to share what makes us happy. We would all write down what it was that made us happy and we posted it on this awesome happy wall! Here are some of the happy things that were shared:
What is the acts of happiness campaign?
The United Nations has declared March 20 International Day of Happiness, a day to celebrate happiness and an opportunity to start daily habits that will ignite smiles around the world. To commemorate this mission, Live Happy invites you to join their Acts of Happiness campaign, designed to gather stories, images, and video that share people’s #HappyActs and how they are making the world a happier place.
March 20th, 2014 marks the United Nations’ second annual International Day of Happiness. “Happiness Walls” are being built around the country to celebrate so that everyone around the country can post their Acts of Happiness to spread and share the joy!
Acts of Happiness is a global campaign created by Live Happy magazine to inspire the world to think, act, and live happy. Aligning with the United Nations’ International Day of Happiness on March 20, 2014, Acts of Happiness invites everyone to do good, feel good, and pledge their #happyacts on actsofhappiness.org.
Here are some examples of some happy acts you can perform today!
- Write a thank you note to someone you learned a lesson or two from
- Pay the toll for the car behind you
- Split a cupcake with your friend
- Pick up litter that you didn’t leave
- Leave a word of encouragement on your coworker’s desk
- Call up an old friend and tell him/her a joke
- Reconnect with your grandparents, find out where they were at your age
- Give a stranger a compliment
- Donate—books, blood, clothes, wisdom, and anything else you’re lucky to have plenty of
How can YOU be apart of this awesome campaign?
Be creative – write a Tweet, take a picture, post a video, share with a friend! Get some Acts of Happiness ideas in order to create your own #HappyActs, learn where to find a happiness wall near you, and how to create a happiness wall in your home, office, or community. Don’t forget, we want you to spread the joy to the whole world, so be sure to post and tag your #HappyActs on actsofhappiness.org.
